Garage door opening too wide in foundation

You can get 15' wide garage doors if that's fits the opening. I'd rather have my guy goof to wide than to narrow! Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2

Labor cost for building a house?

Seems pretty close, probably more to the higher side of that. The "kits" don't really cover much in the way of electrical, plumbing, hvac which add up very quickly. Well and septic will add a bunch too. If you could do that house for 200K I think you did good

    Import Drywall Panel Lifter

Yes I have that exact one and hung rock in my entire new house, 2800 sq ft, vaulted ceilings. Still works fine just be cautious with it as it's a finger pincher. Squeals like hell when cranking up but still goes up ok. Since have used it to hang paneling in a sunroom and few other odd jobs...

    Demolition Cost?

I had several bids ranging from 2500-4000 for a 1 story 800 sq ft house on a basement that I just tore down. Ended up getting 2 40 yd dumpsters costing 1200 and paid an excavator 480 for half days work. Buried the concrete and left over rubble. Money well spent sent from a phone. excuse...

Should I worry if my slab is left unheated through a MN winter?

It sounds like you did a good thorough job with prep. I wouldn't worry about it, should be fine sent from a phone. excuse spelling errors. stupid autocoreect

    Hardwood Floor Tools

I don't think you need a biscuit joiner but rather a router bit or something to cut the groove for your tongue. I've never done that and I gather it might be quite an effort to get it right. A table saw might work to rip a groove but I wouldn't try that myself. It's probably better to just...

    40x60 insulation question

Yes, wrong. One or the other usually. Sometimes I've pulled the paper off if I wanted to use a plastic barrier but that's a bit of a pain. I suppose you could cut a bunch of slits in the paper and then cover it. You don't really want 2 vapor barriers or you'll trap moisture

    Wire Length Estimating

At our local box store, wire is the same price in 250' spools as it is for 1000' spools if you compare per ft cost. But for that large garage, i'd get a 1000' spool. it tends to come off that spool straighter too even with the wire feeder wheel thing for the smaller spools (mine always gets...

Insulating the ceiling - blow in only or batts and blow in?

I would do only blown-in insulation. it always seems batts leave space around things like outlets, light boxes, etc and blown in insulation does a better job covering things. I didn't use a single batt in my new home/garage constrution and I never will again

    Roofing ice guard question

Yes you need a shingle starter strip. I won't use the rolls anymore, all they do is bubble up and cause problems at the edge. I would recommend the starter bundles, regular looking half shingle things. I also run them up along the edges of the roof as well just because it looks better

    How big of pad.

Before I would do pads, I'd do a 6" floor with good rebar layout. If not, I'd do the biggest pads I could. 2x2 seems minimum at best, 4x4 probably be better. Also gives yourself some wiggle room for placement

    Rubbermaid Big Max Shed Install

2x4s are probably fine, space them on 12" centers if you are really concerned with weight bearing ability. I used 1/2" treated plywood for the top only because i had enough around to use and not buy any but I would have used 3/4" if buying new. Mine is 8x10 and I used 9 pier blocks total. I'd...

    Rubbermaid Big Max Shed Install

I put mine on a wood foundation made of treated 2x6s with plywood on top and then leveled that to the ground using deck post blocks with gravel under them. It's higher up this way but not significantly and it's very stable and secure. We previously had it just sitting on half concrete blocks...

HELP! How to move low-rise lift into garage

Could you use your original idea but strap the pieces together so it lifts as a unit to move around? Be easier to get jack out anyway Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2

    Scaffolding Question

Very much agree with this! That's why I can't leave my assembled or when I need it, it takes an hour to unload it and remove all the clamps, caulk guns, rolls of tape and various other things I've got hanging on it

    Scaffolding Question

I have that set from HF, works good for what it is. A little wobbly but doesn't prevent you from working with confidence. I got mine from the store, paid around 150 for it if I remember correctly. Menards around here sells virtually the same thing which my dad has. They'll stack together to...

    Gutters for Metal Pole Building??

I would never use anything but seamless gutters and the bigger the better. Those vinyl ones are a mess, definitely don't use though

To Drywall or Not to Dry Wall ?

Liner panel is another good option if you don't mind the ribs. A bit more expensive per sheet but install it and you're done.
