    grounding 3 switches

I did it similar when I deviced my house recently. I didn't have all the outlets taped since I had a lazy helper working with me and did have a ground touching a neutral which made for a fun time tracking that down. So definitely always tape them. my question would be how come you are putting...

Ground hog day on flooring..... Sorry.

That is very unacceptable. If it were mine, they'd be ripping out and doing it again properly

    MasterForce (Menards) Tool Cabinets

I was considering both places, HF and Menards Masterforce line. I was between the HF 44" for 350 and the 56" MF for 499 - 11%. I pick up the 56" MF tonight. I'm not a pro, slight differences in metal thickness are probably there but I just need more space. I also had about 150 in Menards...

    MDF vs Pine vs Hardwood

I just finished our new house with MDF trim 1x6 base and 1x4 casing mainly due to cost. I considered poplar as we painted all the trim and that is what most builders use around here for paint grade trim when they upgrade from MDF. We installed it all, filled holes, sanded, caulked and then...

    HF 44" vs Masterforce 56"

Our Menards around here (in the city with the corporate headquarters) doesn't have the 56" model on the floor, only the 41" model. Comparing that to the HF 44" they do appear similar quality but I do wish I could touch and feel the 56" to compare as well. I do like the HF 56", seems beefy but...

    Preformax tool cart?

I would say the HF cart, especially the red 5 cart model is a better deal. I have looked at this cart in the store, wasn't too impressed though it's comparable to the 4 drawer black cart at Harbor Freight. I would recommend the red 5 drawer though, solid cart

    HF 44" vs Masterforce 56"

Having just completed our move into a new home, I'm working on getting through organizing my tools and various other parts and pieces. We built most of the home ourselves and acquired a few new tools and many extras throughout the ordeal. I've completely filled my old 26" craftsman roller with...

    Plywood Direction?

I've always done it horizontal. I like the fact one sheet fastened to more rafters seems more stable. I have done vertical for wall sheeting but I wouldn't do that again

Plans to install 2-post lift - Incorrect slab poured

Do you have a contract or any other written estimate/specs that call for 3000 psi concrete? If so, have them rip it out and do it again correctly this time

    Main Panel for house install

One last tip, verify you've run a feed from the panel to each circuit. We just lit up my panel in a new construction and realized we/they forgot one. And we had already insulated, rocked, sprayed and painted everything. We got it fished without too much trouble but double checking would have...

    Main Panel for house install

Wire isn't cheap, I would extend them in the box with wire nuts. Once the cover is on, nobody will see it anyway

    Main Panel for house install

Sorry to be the bearer of potential bad news and high costs... And there isn't a pretty panel full of afci breakers. Hardly any room at all for the wires Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2

    Main Panel for house install

Better be sure you don't need more than just the afci in bedrooms. My electrician buddy did mine and bitched the whole time about them. It was very costly for just the stupid breakers. He said something about needing them everywhere except kitchens, baths, laundry, garage and unfinished...

    Main Panel for house install

Looks very nice and tidy. You didn't have to use any afci breakers? My new home panel is full of them 18 I think. Only regular breakers are on circuits protected by gfci. It was damn expensive just for the breakers Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2

    Recommend an all-purpose nail gun

I doubt you'll want to use a framing nailer to put up trim and vice versa. Some of the box stores sell kits with 3-5 different types in them for not much money if you're only using it occasionally. I have a kit like that for finish trim guns. I have a separate Paslode framing nailer for the...

    gas condensing water heater?

I am entertaining the idea of putting one of these in my new house currently being built: http://www.hotwater.com/water-heaters/residential/conventional/gas/vertex/power-direct-vent/ I don't want a tankless either with all of the common issues and the fact my plumber despises them and...

    Need advise on Insulation...

How is your garage constructed, space between posts now, etc? They make some blanket rolls for pole buildings. Do you have any pictures?

    Recessed/Pot Lighting Question

If you want the can light to touch insulation, you must make sure to get IC (Insulation Contact) rated cans and it should say right on them. You also probably want to get remodel cans instead of new construction cans since the ceiling is already finished.
