    portable table saws

Great, keep the discussion going. You guys are swaying me to keep the old Rockwell and just give it a tune up. Some of the fences mentioned above are pretty expensive though. Any love for this Delta one? Looks like it should just bolt on since the Rockwell contractor saw is the predecessor to...

    portable table saws

That was my thought when I posted this thread, but I don't know all of the brands. Interesting, I'll look into them, needs to cut 3/4" though to be a real candidate. Upgrading the fence and cobbling a dust collection system is the other plan I am looking in to. Delta has a nice replacement...

    portable table saws

Does anyone know if any of the current portable table saws have an arbor long enough to use datto cutters and shaper heads? I've got an old Rockwell contractor saw from the early 80s that works great but there is no ability for dust collection and the fence isn't all that accurate so I'm...

Freezer in an insulated but not heated Garage

20 year old refrigerator/freezer in our garage. Has worked fine in Ohio for the last 6-7 years it has been delegated to garage duty. the beer is a little bit warmer in the summer than it is in the winter, and the pop can start to partially freeze when opened on those really cold nights, but no...

    Leveling workbench on sloped floor

My solution was a plywood ramp under the toolboxes.

Air lines.. what are you using?

Just a garage and not a business. Copper is my go to. I have Pex water lines in the house and, although they do the job fine, they just look sloppy. I don't mind soldering.

    Help Choosing Compact Miter Saw

Another option is a 12" non-slider. I ditched my 10" sliding saw for a DeWalt 12" non slider a few years ago and have been very happy with it. Cuts anything I need cut and doesn't take up so much room behind the saw so I can push it closer to the wall than I could put my old Delta sliding saw...

    Shipping with Fastenal

Fastenal has the worst stocked stores I've ever seen for a fastener store. I would never recommend someone go there to get fasteners. Heck, Home Depot has more fasteners and that isn't saying much. Typical conversation: Me: do you have 3/4x5 wedge anchors? Fastenal: Yes we sure do. Me...

    SHOP vs Man Cave

Add a couch and a TV and this would be my basement too. Until I build the bar, but that will be a while.

This is accurate. I’ve researched it for my PC20v battery collection.

What did you buy while waiting for your garage build?

HAHA! That's great, but in my experience, it has been the better half that can't stop shopping while out house is being finished. Were in the rental house and every damn day there was an Amazon package. Not only did we have no where to store it because we were packed like sardines in the...

reason for not spanning wood truss over 40'

Not that it cannot be done with the wood , but just there is a point where building with steel joists is more economical than wood trusses. Www.newmill.com

    Tool chest for a beginner.

I chose these specifically for woodworking since the tools are bulkier. I put 4 of them side by side and plan to build a bench over the top someday. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-27-in-W-5-Drawer-Rolling-Cabinet-Tool-Box-Chest-in-Textured-Black-UAT-H-26051/303764045

Circular Saws - How many do you have?

    2. A corded Porter cable saw from the early 90s when I was working construction and a 20v cordless Porter cable I bought a couple of years ago.

Moving plumbing in a post tension slab

No jack hammering. Hire someone to core a hole after the slab has been X-Rayed and the cable identified. There is over 33,000# of tension in those cables. Cutting one is likely to kill someone if they are in the vicinity of the end of the cable.

    The greenhouse thread

Between the deer and squirrels, tomatoes don't stand much of a chance around here either. That is the reason for a greenhouse. I'm tired of putting in all of that effort just to have the wildlife eat it all.

    The greenhouse thread

Your green house is awesome. Love it. And, you aren't detracting from my thread, you are adding to it. By all means, keep posting. Do you have any in-progress photos? What did you use for roof and siding paneling? I think that is going to be the biggest decision. The framing is pretty easy...

    The greenhouse thread

Okay, not technically a garage, but close enough. Thinking of building one over the winter for crops next year. I'm seriously tired of the deer and squirrels taking a bite out of all of the tomatoes. Just starting this thread for input from the group. Who has them, how big? Did you stick...
