What surprising tools don’t you own...

Any tool that I find that I need and don't have, I just go out and buy. Next on the list is a 12" thickness planer.

Any Deals At The Pawnshop Lately?

I've really been underwhelmed at the price and selection of local Pawn shops over the last couple of years. From what I've seen, there just isn't much worth buying and quite a bit of their inventory is new stock, not pawned stock so price-wise, they are no better than any other retail store. I...

    Waste oil burner: Pro/Con

Thanks for the info everyone. This idea sounded way better in my head than this. Looks like I'll just be in the market for a NG heater.

Assuming we will finally get a like button and reply notifications. That will be such an improvement. Replies to threads can easily get overlooked here in some of the fast paced forums.

    Waste oil burner: Pro/Con

Who has one of these? Do you like it? Was it worth the cost? Tell me about your experience. Looking for a way to heat the 3 car garage of the new house. Options would be a kerosene heater, NG heater (permanently mounted), Waste oil burner, etc. The waste oil burner looks like a great...

    kitchen cutlery...yeah it's a tool

I had 2 Henkles knives develop cracks in the handles. Sent them an email with photos and they sent me new knives no questions asked once I sent them back the old ones. German knife manufacturers are no joke about the lifetime warranty.

    kitchen cutlery...yeah it's a tool

Pretty much all J.A. Henkles Pro in my house. A handful of our knives are older than the Pro designs but that means they predate the International label as well. :D 1 Wustoff paring knife and 1 Rhineland utility knife as well. They hold edges just as well as the Henkles so no complaints on...

What did you Buy after you said no more Tools

I've never said no more tools...I only really buy them when I need them but I never feel bad about it. Not so easy with other interests: I've said I have enough guns... then I buy more. I've said I have enough guitars/amps... Then I buy more.

    Need a new framing nailer

The problem I have with battery powered is the same thing that you said in your first paragraph. Since I don't use it for a living, it will do a lot of sitting. I don't need another proprietary battery powered item sitting around for 2-3 years between projects. A well oiled pneumatic nailer...

    Need a new framing nailer

My trusty N80 nailer bit the dust a couple of years ago when some discontinued internal parts shattered while building a deck. I haven't had a need for one until recently now that I have a 1800sf basement to finish so I'm on the lookout for a new one. Having been out of the trades for 20...

    What air tools to get?

For me personally, (who is in the process of planning the air system in my new house), it will look like this: Nail guns. Framing nailer, finish nailer and brad nailer. Tire inflator blow gun or two. I've got one that is basically an open ended 3/8 air line with a ball valve. That can move a...

    House with RV garage...

No RVs run off of 240. They are all 120v. The larger ones have 50 amp services, but they are still 120. That is why with a simple adapter, you can run off of a 30 amp service in a pinch. The 30 and 50 amp plugs look a awful lot like 240 volt plugs but they are not. Don't confuse them. Owner of...

Hard Hats/Cranium PPE- What's everyone wearing?

For any of you on Commercial/Industrial jobs, I started seeing these late last year in commercial construction..... Safety Helmets. First on a Turner Construction site, Next Skanska USA, next everyone, I'm sure. I'll try to maintain my traditional hard hat as long as possible...

Where to mount your hose reel

The reel is definitely going on the ceiling of the garage in the house we are building. I have 2 electric cord reels that are getting mounted up there as well. Even though I can reach everything I need with the 50' reel, I still have 250' of loose hose hanging on a hook from my days as a...

    Channellock vs Kobalt Saw Horses

Interesting but I think I'd be afraid to use them for fear of cutting into the top of them. I think a sacrificial 2x4 on top would make them more appealing.

    Let's See Your Chainsaws

Only one I have currently. MS291 with a 20" bar. Works great and has processed a bunch of trees so far this year on the 1 acre overgrown lot we just bought.

    Claw Hammer thread.

I've had several hammers over the years but I can't think of a better purchase than my Estwing 20 oz. I've had it for close to 30 years and will never get rid of it. Mine's no where near this pretty anymore.
