    Drill press recommendation

I have a bench top Delta drill press that I bought 15-20 years ago. It has been great for what I use it for and it can also be used with all of the delta accessories like the mortising jig.

Lesson - Don't buy cheap tool boxes

I've had good luck so fat with the Husky tool boxes. I have a few of them.

    Chainsaws

Thanks for all the comments. Surfing Craigslist, I found a Stihl 291 in great condition for a good price ($300). It followed me home. Not a professional saw, but not a homeowner saw either. It should work great for my needs. At 55cc it should have plenty of power and if there are tasks...

    Any small shops using fastenal

There are better sources. We have an account with Fasten-maybe, but usually find that they don't have nearly anything in stock, in a reasonable quantity, when we need it.

Harbor Freight Titanium 140 MIG welder?

I don't know diddly about welders but I am looking to get one in the next few months so I am interested in the thread. I talked to a lifelong welder the other day and he told me that Lowes sells Lincoln welders for about the same price...

    Chainsaws

Points well talked about and appreciated from all of you. I think at this point, I need to do a more thorough review of how many trees and exactly what I think my long term needs are. Renting a heavy duty saw and buying something smaller for home use is certainly an option. I need to review...

    Chainsaws

HA! It is a good thing there is only one on the lot that big. The rest are in the 12-16" range. Thanks for everyone's replies and by all means, keep them coming. Who ever thought it would be this difficult to pick a chainsaw. :lol_hitti

Need help picking out a tool box

Lowes and Home Depot both have a good display of tool boxes. Check their online sites and make sure you get a big enough one for all the tools you want to store. Spend enough that you get drawers with full extension slides that are rated at more than the weight you want to put in them...

    Chainsaws

Okay, I have it narrowed down to two saws. The Echo CS400 and the Stihl 251. The Echo is a little cheaper but the Stihl has a little larger engine. Thoughts on these two? https://www.homedepot.com/p/ECHO-18-in-40-2-cc-Gas-2-Stroke-Cycle-Chainsaw-CS-400-18/100675470...

    Let's see your toolbox.

I got these over the last couple of months to get all the tools organized and on wheels. Getting ready for the big house move and I want all the tools out of the basement and on wheels. Most of the tools fit in here except the larger power tools.

    Chainsaws

Sorry for the late reply, I was out camping for the weekend. I'm talking about 5-10, but these are big trees. The smallest is 12" or more, the largest is 24" or so. But, once the lot is cleared, the saw will get little use. Summing up what I've gleemed out of these 3 pages so far, Echo...

    Chainsaws

Looking for recommendations. I have a bunch of trees to cut up into firewood over the next year at my new house, but after that, the chainsaw would get typical homeowner use. i.e. not much except once or twice a year. Everyone says buy a Stihl, but those are pretty pricey for something that...

Installing a Pulley System from ceiling joist

This is rather sound engineering advice, but I'll offer a little bit different idea. pick a panel point in your joists and tie several of them together with vertical 2x6s nailed together. The trusses are strongest at their panel points. I did this pretty successfully a few years ago when I tied...

Workbench build using H.F. 44 inch tool boxes

These are the 27" cabinets. I'm planning on a bench top over the tool boxes. Wall cabinets above to hold anything that doesn't fit (like Sawsall, and other longer tools).

Workbench build using H.F. 44 inch tool boxes

I'll be adding to this thread soon. My new house won't be built for 6 months or so but I'm beginning the planning already. Just bought 3 of these rolling tool boxes. I'll get everything organized and on wheels so all I have to do is roll it on the moving van. At least that is the plan. 3 of them...

Small in wall safe, who has one? Recommendations?

I'm in the process of planning a new house build. I'll almost definitely have a wall safe in the closet, but I doubt I'd keep much more than the HD gun, $500 or so in emergency cash and my EDC gun. The safe is mostly to keep the kids away from the guns and cash. Yes, it does provide some...

    Garage refrigerator conundrum

My attached garage is insulated but not heated. The diet coke can get a little slushy in Jan, but the beer stays mostly liquid, and the Vodka and Fireball are just fine. They don't notice the temps. I guess if was a little further north I would have issues, but so far, so good in southern Ohio.
