Thanks for all the suggestions guy. Good to know that other styles exist, so I can get them when my plier style won't do it.

    Oil Filter Wrench

Hi guys, So I've had this style of oil filter wrench (mine is not Tekton, link for reference only, got it from Pepboys) for a couple years now. It was working fine when I first got it, but now whenever I have it in the notch for smaller size (which is what I've always used) and squeeze, it'll...

Mismatch (or missing) Sockets Between Deep and Standard

Another thing I've noticed in many brands is that standard will go bigger in size than deep. For example, 3/8 inch drive would go to 22mm in standard, but only to 19mm or even 18mm in deep. 1/2 inch drive would to to 22mm, 24mm or even 27mm in standard, but stops at 21mm in deep.

Mismatch (or missing) Sockets Between Deep and Standard

I kinda get the missing sizes because of non usage or cost, even though I don't like it. But skipping sizes in just the deeps for that same drive just doesn't seem right, and makes the set looks bad too. :D. I got Craftsman USA because of the value, but at that point I didn't pay much attention...

Mismatch (or missing) Sockets Between Deep and Standard

Hi guys, So I've been bugged by this observation, and need some explanations. I've only looked brands that are not high end or industrial, so this observation might not apply to those. My NOS Craftsman USA 170 something piece socket set has a mismatch in sizes between the 6 pt., 3/8" standard...

    Husky 52 vs HF 44

Agreed! I have that 52 in 11 drawer Husky box, and it has been great so far. No complaints about anything. The reasons I went with that one over the HF 44 was length, black in color, wood top, and 22 inches deep. That unit has been in and out of stock, and price has been increasing. I first saw...

Must have tools for working on BMWs

I agree with the Bentley statement. Recently got myself an E39 540i at 86k miles, and the first thing I had to do was transmission fluid change and valve cover and timing cover gaskets. The Bentley didn't help much for both of those jobs. It didn't even mention the part where if I don't crack...

For those of you with the Milwaukee M12 ratchet

I just got that deal myself too. Originally I wanted the 3/8 ratchet kit, but for a little more, I can have one more battery and two more tools. Who can say no to that? Thanks for posting this. Now we know we have a choice if we need it. :D Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk

A wrench, a wrench my Kingdom for an adjustable wrench

This is why I want to have tools in every car that I drive or touch. Not that I will use them to replace a water pump or anything like that, but for simple repairs that I can't do without tools. My story is less severe but fits in the same category, I guess. I worked on my car a couple weeks...

    Portable Rechargeable LED Worklight

Hi guys, I have a few worklights, but seem to never have the perfect one when I need it. I have the traditional corded hand held light with hook, a Capri Tools LED stick light, and a flash light. Whenever I work at the wheel or under the engine or around the engine bay, I can't get these to...

HF Pro chrome sockets...good to go?

HF is perfectly fine for a DIYer. I've used HF tools to work on my own cars and was able to save lots of money from DIY work. Like stated above, the only problem is the sets skip sizes, and there are no singles. However, I've never had any issue with the missing sizes when I owned Japanese cars...

    Craftsman Work Light

You will love it. Since we're talking about lights, I want to mention something I really love since I got it: pocket COB LED light. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B012BR6D1E/?tag=atomicindus08-20 This is the Chip on Board (COB) version, not the cheap individual round head LEDs version. It's...

    Craftsman Work Light

I second the Capri Tools light. Very light and bright. True, clean white LED color. I've also had oil and nasty stuff on the handle, but still holding up great. Solid unit for the price. The only thing I wish it had was a base so that it doesn't fall over when I need it to stand up. Sent from...

9mm sockets and wrenches. Had anyone ever used that size on anything?

Yup, needed a 9mm wrench (which I didn't have at that point) for rear bleeder screws on a BMW E92. I think the front were 11mm, if I remember correctly.

1/4 in. impact driver or 3/8 in. impact wrench

Thanks for all the opinions and suggestions! I guess I'll start out with a 3/8 impact wrench, and will add a 1/4 impact driver if I ever get to woodworking or building stuff. That makes me want to bite the bullet, spend the extra and get the M18 3/8 impact instead of the M12. Plus the torque...
