White Paint Recommendations for Steel ceiling (that don't yellow)

I had promised to update the thread once I had made the decision on paint to use, and completed/installed the decking. In the end I brush painted with Rustoleum Clean Metal White Primer. That's an oil based primer, and it did a great job of covering and sealing the used metal B-decking (which...

Suggestions for wall mounting NewAge cabinets in pole barn

Update for anyone following this thread: I had a good friend visit who is a cabinet maker/carpenter by trade (he does everything from custom cabinetry to framing). He looked at it, and immediately made another suggestion, which I'm going to follow: Add a second layer of 3/4" ply to the wall...

Drilling and mounting to Concrete ?

When you say you couldn't go deeper than 1 3/4, do you mean the drill stopped progressing? I'm wondering if you hit rebar or wire?

White Paint Recommendations for Steel ceiling (that don't yellow)

Thanks - I was able to order 4 gallons of 215969 from HD for delivery to a store in MA. Delivery is early next week, so I guess I have to find something else to do this weekend :) (probably start work on hanging cabinets...) I will probably topcoat it with an acrylic (water) based topcoat, to...

I have a pair of Mr Cool Heat pumps ready to install, but need to get all the steel work installed first...this was all supposed to be happening in the fall...

White Paint Recommendations for Steel ceiling (that don't yellow)

Yes - heat (and ventilation) are the issue. I do have a kerosene torpedo, but using that while painting is a somewhat hallucinatory experience, even with a 3M respirator and filters on (ask me how I know...). If the weather was warmer, I'd throw the doors open, lay the panels out on sawhorses...

White Paint Recommendations for Steel ceiling (that don't yellow)

The steel is corrugated B-Decking. It appears to have some kind of original factory coating on it, but it also appears to have been left outside, stacked in the rain so there was standing water and has rusted where the water pooled. (photo attached). The white side goes down, and becomes the...

White Paint Recommendations for Steel ceiling (that don't yellow)

A good question - I don't know how long it will take to yellow (that would be very useful info, but not found it anywhere). If it was 10 years, I can live with that, but if it's 6 months that would be painful...

White Paint Recommendations for Steel ceiling (that don't yellow)

After doing a lot of investigation I had decided to use this as a primer, and then cover with a water/latex based top coat. However, I've now discovered that it's almost impossible to purchase here! It's not sold in any size greater than 1qt in CT or NY. I've found one hardware store in MA which...

White Paint Recommendations for Steel ceiling (that don't yellow)

I have considered that (actually just an epoxy primer). The big issue is that spraying at the moment isn't practical (current temperatures, and the fact I can't move anything significant out of the building due to issues with concrete outside.....).

White Paint Recommendations for Steel ceiling (that don't yellow)

Posts and all beams/joists/brackets are Rustoleum Oil based enamel (two coats applied with rollers before the mezzanine was assembled). Very pleased with the results. I had also planned to use Rustoleum Enamel (in white) for the underside of the B-Deck flooring on the mezzanine, but the...

White Paint Recommendations for Steel ceiling (that don't yellow)

I think that pretty much all white oil based paints yellow, and (surprisingly) based on what I'm reading online it is WORSE if they don't get sunlight on them - I think it's something to do with the oil in the paint, rather than the UV

White Paint Recommendations for Steel ceiling (that don't yellow)

I like the fact you say it covers the red well, but I was hoping to use something that was a single coat (or perhaps two) - if this is a primer I'm guessing I need to paint this and the final coat(s)? I would go with the oil based rustoleum (I'm very pleased with the smoke grey and safety...

White Paint Recommendations for Steel ceiling (that don't yellow)

As discussed in other threads, I'm just finishing up the build of my (approx) 750 sq ft mezzanine. The mezzanine was used, and supplied in rough grey primer. I've painted all the posts and beams in rustoleum (roller paint), and am now working out what to do with the underside of the corrugated...

Suggestions for wall mounting NewAge cabinets in pole barn

I think there's a big difference going into studs than there is into (just) 3/4" of ply.... That said...I'm thinking that attaching the wall cabinets to 2"x6" or 2"x8" ledgers which are themselves screwed into the two structural poles (and into the plywood) will probably be sufficient (that's...

Suggestions for wall mounting NewAge cabinets in pole barn

Hi, I've taken delivery of my NewAge Pro cabinets, and am trying to decide how to mount them to the wall of my polebarn. They are going to fit in the 17' 1" gap between the two mezzanine posts shown below (together with photos of the wall under construction). Note that there are only two poles...

Concrete footings for mezzanine in pole barn and slab insulation

Yes.... ceiling is 16'4" at the front /back of the garage, and rises to around 17' at the peak. No regrets... There's a lot of blow in insulation in the attic space, and the building is keeping well above freezing even in the current frigid temperatures. Only slight issue is the challenge of...

Concrete footings for mezzanine in pole barn and slab insulation

Update: Today with three buddies we installed all the posts, perimeter beams and stairs. A long day, but very pleased with the results.... Note that we've only bolted one post down to the concrete currently - the rest are free standing, but held in position by the beams. I will be adjusting them...

Once I'm ready to install the lift, I'll look very carefully at whether fitting it with the post holding the power unit on the left causes any issues. I'll report back here whatever the result...
