Endoscope / camera to fit spark plug hole

I bought the Milwaukee M12 scope camera and was surprised at how cheap it was. Home Depot is selling the M12 scope, 2 batteries and charger for $129 right now. I like mine, it is well built and has a good adjustable LED light on the end.

What dust extractor to go with? What is best? Hilti, Festool?

Here's an excellent comparison test of all the popular dust collection vacuums on the market: If money is not a big factor, I would go Festool.

    Klien Needle Nose Pliers

The knipex needle nose pliers are built very differently from the US needle nose pliers (Klein et al). They're much thinner and more flexible, designed for more precision type stuff and not as big and heavy duty. Knipex advertises the tips as being flexible for maximum grip. The Klein needle...

What is a good, but low cost, Step Drill Bit?

I've found that any of the spiral step bits, even the cheaper ones, are pretty good. I use the HF "Cobalt" step bit at work, and it performs well. I haven't tried anything crazy with it, but its definitely worth the price it sells for, and cuts a lot faster than the straight wall HF step bits.

    Recommended tools from Aliexpress/Bangood/Dx?

I buy tons of electronics straight from Chinese sources. Like you said, a bunch of stuff sold in stores and on Amazon are straight from the same sources, so I don't mind cutting out the middle man and waiting 30 days for shipping. That being said, I've never seen a quality tool come out of...

New Tekton 1/2" drive impact sockets

Finally! I've been hoping Tekton would release some roll-stamped impact sockets. Is it a little strange to have the smaller sizes be CR-V and the larger sizes be CR-MO? Why not all CR-MO? Do other companies do this also?

Help Me Pick a Soldering Iron/Station...

I bought a TS-100 from Amazon, and I'm very happy with it. I modified an 18V battery charger to run the TS-100 of an 18V tool battery, which is awesome. I bought a cheap soldering iron stand from Amazon for like $10 to go with it. It works fine. I did have to glue a washer in the iron holder...

    230v 5HP Compressor Plug/Receptacle

If you're looking for a cheap way to have a "service disconnect" you can use a fused disconnect typically used for air conditioner units. They're cheaper than a plug and receptacle. This one is $17, in stock at Home Depot, and is rated for 10HP.

Recessed Light - Cover in Attic?

You can buy canless IC-rated LED lights that will fit in the existing holes (assuming 6"?) for about $10/each.

    Toilet Paper Holder

That's awesome! Did you say that you threaded the inside of the socket attached to the ratchet? How did that go?

    4.5" Metabo grinder

I'm not a full time metal worker / fabricator... When do you use lower than full speed on your grinders? I have a variable speed grinder but I've only used it for granite cutting and polishing. I always go full tilt when working on metal. Is this bad practice? Should I be using slower...

    4.5" Metabo grinder

Metabo (German made) and Metabo HPT (Japanese/Chinese made) grinders are totally separate product lines despite their corporate merger. I absolutely love my Metabo grinders with brake. Its a great safety feature and really speeds up tasks since you don't have to wait for the wheel/disc to stop...

Very nice results! The high ceilings definitely help with lights like that.

    Tool chest for a beginner.

Husky/Kobalt/Craftsman each make a ~$100 - ~$130 4 or 5 drawer tool cabinet, but they're really pretty bad. The slides are awful and really not any good for storing relatively heavy tools in them like wrenches and sockets. I would not buy any tool chest that's rated for less than 100lbs per...

    Garage Cabinet depth

Almost all garage cabinets (and kitchen cabinets for that matter) are between 10"-12" deep. I built a "prototype" cabinet for tool storage and made it 14" deep to have a little extra storage. Even at just 14" deep the cabinets seem really big. 16" might be do-able depending on your setup, but...

    Norseman Nitride-Cryogenic Treated

The Applied Science youtube channel did a really interesting video about cryogenic treatments, specifically as it relates to drill bits. You can watch the video, but basically it helps align the structure of the metal to make it more uniform, kind of like refining the heat treatment. Really...

    Milwaukee 2488-20 M12 Soldering Iron

I was considering getting the M12 soldering iron, as I'm heavily invested in M12 tools. After much research, I ended up getting a TS-100 iron instead. Its a compact and very nice iron, with fully adjustable temperature, and heats up in less than 10 seconds. It runs off 12-24VDC, so you can...

Reciprocating saws: inline vs "hump" style

I'm an electrician and switched from a full size sawzall to a M12 fuel hackzall. I really really like the M12 hackzall. Much more than I thought I would. The balance is so much better, its really easy to cut conduit and other stuff one handed. I also find that I cut much straighter with it...

    preventing cam-out on Phillips screws

I like the Bosch Phillips/Square tips. They still work in regular phillips screws. They cam out less in my experience. I use them in a magnetic multi-driver.
