Thoughts on Harbor freights recent expansion into more expensive offerings?

Trying to figure out $10-14 plus 20% off pliers are in the same shopping channel as 20-30 Channelock or $40 Klein tools. Guys like me see 99% of the function at better then half the price.

Thoughts on Harbor freights recent expansion into more expensive offerings?

I noticed Poulan Pro chainsaws, WD-40, and a few actual non-house brands coming into the store. Whatever I don't like, I don't buy.

    Ryobi 18v cordless quality?

I would do Ryobi 18v if I had to do it again. The depth of the lineup is insane.

    Ryobi 18v cordless quality?

Is that the same DeWalt that's famous for changing battery designs?

Lowes Craftsman Ad, Available April 2nd

I find the track garage systems to be dubious at best. $10 for a forked holder you can buy for $1-2 if you just get the screw in version. By the time you add everything up it's a $1,000+ system vs $50-100

    US General 27" box

Best way to organize sockets and bits

Put the standard sockets in the Harbor Freight holders. Get whatever rail floats your boat for special sockets. I have been in and out of my socket drawer so weekend in homeowner/home mechanic fashion and I can't thin of any reason to spend good money to put them in a different order.

    HF Braun Slim LED Worklight

I got to use mine doing some electrical work in a footwell. From a guy that may grab a flashlight to having 320 lumen light bar is night and day. Made the work a lot easier.

Want a new full set of tools.

I think both Gearwrench and Tekton have mechanics sets availible. So does Matco. Craftsman had a big set (900 or 1600) at one point in time.

Are "cheap" tools really of low quality or...

Gear Wrench, Carlyle, channel lock, Armstrong, Williams, and the diamonds in the rough from Tekton, HF, husky, and Kobalt don't count? Hell even the Pitts Pro stuff is light years ahead of the old blow mold no name "mechanics toolset" that were the norm only 15 years ago. A little bit more gets...

    Memorable screw ups

Cutting 7" solid oak dental crown and miscut. $70 piece of wood for the trash. Forgot to check the bearing in a new turbo and pre-lube the unit. First time under 13s was the last time for that turbo. Pool as disgusting and I was throwing chemicals at it like hotcakes one sale. Decided to drain...

    I have an addiction.

Long Island... outbuildings limit is 144sqft unless permitted. A 24x24 garage is around 3k a year in taxes. I am looking to extend my current garage another car length though.
