    Air compressor air regulator

Sounds to me like you are putting the regulator at the wrong place. You dont want it right at the tank. Keep you lines at high pressure then regulate at the drops. More than likely you have 1/4" or 3/8" connections for your airhoses, put the regulators there, as close to the tool as possible.

Black water pipe vs Copper for air line?

Copper all the way. I had never soldered copper pipe before I did this project. I put up over 200' of 3/4" copper, soldered probably 50-75 connections, 150 psi and zero leaks. the stuff is really easy to work with. The copper pipe was about $4 more per 10' piece so $80 more than iron but I had...

    work benches... from scratch

Just finished my bench. 12' long, 32" deep, 39" tall. The main frame is 2x6's with 2x4 cross supports and sistered 2x4's for the legs. Also added a pegboard on the back. The bottom shelf is a single layer of 23/32 OSB, and the top is two layers of 23/32 OSB with a sheet of masonite on the top...

    Lighting and CLF

I have my 50x50x14 shop now wired for 20 CFL's. I had 5 runs of 4 lights. Climbing up and down the ladder with my bad knees it took me one evening to do each run. So 5 evenings for the install. If you are gungho maybe you could do it faster. You could save money going with the 26w versions but...

    Help with Grinder-Removing disc

He is talking about an angle grinder not a die grinder, and like was said in another post I think you can get the disc tighter by hand than with those flimsy spanner wrenches they come with. Give it a shot and I think it will come loose.

    Black Pipe to Reel hose

They make short 3' hoses with a swivel on one end for this very purpose. I have seen them at harbor freight and tractor supply. Should be $10 or less.

    Help with Grinder-Removing disc

I use grinders a lot and have been through several of them over the last 20 years. I always throw those tools away with the box the grinder comes in. Put on a good leater glove like a welding glove and turn it off by hand. It takes some force but I have never seen one i could not loosen. The...

    Framing a room

I am going to be building a small bathroom inside my steel building. I put the pipes in for the drain and water before the slab was poured so that is done. I was thinking just build it with 2x4's and OSB. Questions: 1) What thickness of OSB should I use? 2) What are the "standard" lengths...

Decent, reasonably priced Regulator for my compressor

As to your regulator question the Norgren units seem to work good. You can find them all over ebay in the $30-$40 range

Decent, reasonably priced Regulator for my compressor

Not always. Depending on the work you do it may be very useful to keep the compressor and tank at 175 psi. There is a lot more air stored in the tank so he can be assured he always has 90 psi or whatever at the tool. If he sets the compressor lower say at 100 psi then he may be able to draw the...

    You Welders "in the know"

I have two welders. The first is a lincoln 225 amp "tombstone". You can get these at home depot or the like. I have had it since around 1993 and have burned probably a thousand pounds of welding rods and built countless things with it. It works great for pretty much everything except for really...

How many have urinals in your caves

38 special - I would hate for that PVC air line to blow while you were taking a whiz.

    air drops - up first?

Thanks for the pics. Worked on it some today. Here is a pic of what I ended up doing. The compressor is coming in form the right side of the picture. The line slopes about 5" every 25 feet (away from the compressor) and then rises up 5" where the drops are and then drops 5" on the 25' run to...

    Adding Welder to garage

This is a simplified answer and a real electrician will tell you it is more involved and complicated than this and there are special rules, exceptions, etc but in a general sense the maximum current you can carry with copper wires is the following: 14 ga - 15 amps, 12 ga - 20 amps, 10 ga - 30...

    air drops - up first?

Ok, So you come down off the main first, and then go up as illustrated in Friartuck's post. Hanging from the ceiling is not an option. I guess technically it is possible but ceiling is very tall and I would prefer to mount everything on the wall.

    air drops - up first?

In doing my research I see that on a air system the air drops should come from the top of the main line and then drop down. What is the best way to go about doing this if everything is going to be flush mounted on a wall? Most the diagrams and pictures I see the main line is run in an attic or...

air hose as part of a plumbed system

I am in the process of putting in the air system for my shop. I am planning on running 3/4 copper hardlines around the perimeter of my shop which is a total of 150'. I want to put my air compressor in a seperate building that is about 12' away from my shop mainly for noise reasons. This a rural...

    Wiring a 20amp/240v outlet

I agree. Not an expert but black and red go to the slotted plugs and the ground goes to the round one. Neutral is not used.

    CFL wattage

No pictures yet but I wanted to clarify that the CFLs I am considering are actual 65, 85, and 105 watt. These are not their incandescent equivalents. I think they are 250, 350, and 500 watt equivalents. These are not bulbs you find at home depot they have to be special ordered and are around $15...

    Ground rod placement

If you have no inspections to worry about I would drive them under the panel as you described. Actually I wish I would have done that myself.
