Great posts. Just started building mine. I used 2x4 for the frame, 1/2 plywood for base, 3/8 plywood to sheet the back and gables. For the top 2x4x16ft, then 3/4 plywood and topped it off with 1/4 hardboard. Just need to mount the doors which are made from 3/4 plywood.

I asked the same thing a while back. Link I used galvanized. Its used at the plant I work at for all air line headers.

I purchased a 3phase rockwell drill press for dirt cheap for my garage but need to replace the motor. The current motor is 3phase 1/2 hp 1710 rpm, but I found a 110v single phase 3450 rpm 1 1/2 hp motor. will that work?

Thanks man! The unistrut was $14 for 10ft 1 5/8x 1 5/8. Its the galvanized strut. depending on the metal it can be expensive. I was able to get it at a local electrical wholesale company, like Eecol. I used the Cobra clamps (aka "P" clamps) to hold the pipe. As for the Ball valves I did it...

Finally installed the air line drops. Went a bit overboard but it looks great and functional. I ran 3 drops over on the one side and one drop in the other that will have a 50ft real attached to it. Each drop has an isolation valve and also a bleed valve at the bottom. Just have to get some...

Ok so how many welding tables do you have and why? I have a 4' x 3' table and now my father inlaw want to build another table 6' x 32". The shop is only 560sqft I think we would be better off building pipe stands and horses for when welding longer pieces. This is just a hobby shop not...

Thanks man! If I was to do it again I would have made a 6ft mezzanine in the back and on the right a 4ft mezzanine so it would have been a big L shape mez. Yeah those back to back c channels worked great. Way better then the i beam and way lighter.

I think the wifey helped so much is bc her father is retiring soon and will need a place to hang out ;)

The weakest point is the trusses and even though they are rated for heavy snow load and at any given point the load is suspend in either end of a truss, I wouldn't oust 500lbs. The stuff it lifts is around 200lbs.

So I'm going to be using the galvanized pipe. I was able to purchase some from work for cheap and I talked to one of the instrument techs and he said that the galvanized pipe we have is rate for 500psi working pressure. No issues here ;)

Thanks all for the response. I will be using Galvanized especially as I'm able to get it for dirt cheap at work :) What else can I make out of galvanized pipe? Maybe that's for another post

Is it ok to use galvanized pipe for my air line runs or is it better to stick with regular black pipe? Thanks

Finished installing the galvanized sheeting. Used rivets to fasten them to the wall. Also installed the hoist.
