    Harbor Freight 72" Roller Cabinet...

Dont be worried about the drawers. I got a 56 Masterforce and I have no problem laying most pliers straight up. A Channellocks 440 stands straight up.

    Ratcheting Wrenches

I have flexhead gearwrench in SAE 5/16-3/4 and cheap stanleys from walmart in 8mm-19mm and happen to be very good. The stanleys are much older now, are reversable, and some of the best quality ive seen, very thin on the box end. I dont use the heck out of ratchet wrenches so I would never tie...

    Truck brand vs. other

I work professionally in plant maintenance, so I cant speak totally on behalf of Automotive. I have worked on plenty of forklifts, sweepers, loaders, things with engines but that doesnt totally count, I still count those as "machines", although mobile. I could possibly see the need for special...

Snap-on tools should I buy? Need opinions

I agree, the 50% rule is good to go by.

Snap-on tools should I buy? Need opinions

In my opinion, I think you have $300 worth of tools there, that big breaker bar is a solid $100 right there. I dont know of any Snap-On sockets that are "cheap". Id do it.

very fine tooth ratchets any good?

Shoggoth80, somebody is thinking, "Why didnt you jump to 1/2" drive?" Sometimes you just cant, and a 3/8" is all that fits, even though Im a bigger 1/2 drive fan than 3/8 drive, I know what using what ya' got and what fits is all about. Ive busted the drive already on my Snap-On Dual 80 FLH80...

very fine tooth ratchets any good?

Im with BigBlue&Goldie, spend a little more, and you have it for your grandchildren's life. Im all for cheap ratchets in a boat/truck/atv toolbox, but at work, I need my stuff to work, now! I dont regret my Snap-On purchases one bit, but, everyone has different needs and opinions.

    Best tube grease

I believe in not mixing bases too. On something like a balljoint, probably wont matter much, but a high speed item like a u joint, id stick to the same grease. Over greasing is just as bad as under greasing by the way. Im a fan of synthetics. At work I use Mobil SHC100 (#2) on most...

    Combination square: Starrett vs Mitutoyo

I have a 5pc Starrett set with a 12" and 24" rule, I use mine all the time, love them!

    Craftsman Disappointment

Masterforce is a great option for Craftsman, its basically Craftsman/Armstrong/Allen in one. They dont have the latest and greatest ratchets but they work fine and their sockets and wrenches are great values. SK is probably my favorite but is slightly more expensive. Id look at Blackhawk and...

    Bent my Snappy Breaker-Bar....darn

Honestly, you auto guys use your breaker bars much differently than us machine guys do. I understand what you are doing with it, but I would jump to the next drive size. I tried a HF 24" bar for a couple of days at work and it was way too long and cumbersome for how I use it, granted I use...

Fractional Inch Tools - Who Needs 'Em?

Re: Fractional Inch Tools - Who Need 'Em? In the industrial world, and I have found in heavy mobil equipment as well, that as a rule of thumb (not the golden rule however) if its made in the USA its probably a majority standard or standard and metric. If its overseas built, its likely metric...

snap-on tool chest at costco for $3500?

Not that weight directly relates to a boxes strength, but my 56" box weighs only a few pounds more than that 41 and is plenty strong, just sayin'.

Out growing my craftsman tool box

I like having a work surface, but Im not a fan of super wide tool boxes, mainly because I move mine all day long, its my mobil office, your situation would be different. Id shoot for the 56in box and mount a small top box on a corner, build a nice butcher block top and mount a vice.

    Montezuma 54" box

I heard about it here. Yeah that 55 is a beast! Thanks for the comparison. I guess my question is when or if Strictly Toolboxes is going to carry the Montezuma, but maybe they are not? Congrats on the HF56 btw, darn nice box.

    Montezuma 54" box

So I wonder how long it will be until we see Montezuma's new 54" box. Has anyone actually laid eyes on one yet? Does anyone know if Strictlytoolboxes will be carrying it? It looks comparable to the Extreme 55 specs wise, just a little more snazzy. :rocker:

can someone who owns a snap-on HBBD24 or HBBD16 help me?

I agree the 16 really is about perfect, had about the force most standard 24oz hammers do, and is light to swing.... I guess it would be my favorite. It shouldnt be, I paid $85 for my 24oz off the truck, and paid $6 for my 16oz at the flea market, wtf?!!

can someone who owns a snap-on HBBD24 or HBBD16 help me?

I used to have a whole bunch more ball peens in my box at work, took a bunch home. Only ball peens I use now are my Snap-On 24oz and 16oz. I have no real preference for one or the other when it comes to using them with punches, just grab one and go. I guess for space Id go for the 16oz, its a...
