Metal guards on stud for wiring

The 314.17(B)(2) exception in my 2020 NEC states that 2.5"X4" nonmetallic boxes with knockouts not less than 1/4" in diameter don't need to be supported in the box if they're supported outside of the box within eight inches. Where the confusion comes from, I think, is that people assume that the...

    Becoming Electrician - Tool Recommendations

The term "bags" is used a lot to refer to your tool belt. If you're asking about what toolbelt you should get I can't recommend Boulder Bags enough. Easily the best bang for your buck. If you're asking about actual tool bags Vetos are fantastic quality and laid out really well. They're expensive...

Any comments on locking flex head ratchets from Carlyle?

I had a 1/4". Overall I thought the quality and ergonomics were great though it did come bone dry. However, I ended up selling it because I didn't like that you could only use it in the locked position and that the lock button stuck out as far as it did. Those issues don't make it a bad ratchet...

Just because they’re made in USA....

Did we read the same title? You're not acting like US made tools are God's gift to man, so you must not be a real farmer. Some people, man.

    Flex vs Roto ratchets

Flex heads have their pivot point below the anvil instead of right at the anvil which will allows you to clear certain obstructions more easily. You might run into the occasional fastener that you can only get with a flex, but more than likely you'll just run into situations where the roto can...

    Napa one-day sales event

Just a heads up. I just called the NAPA near my house about a couple of ratchets. One of them is on a monthly special. I asked if the 25% off would apply. The guy on the phone rang one up and said it worked just fine. I'm waiting for the ratchet to get to that NAPA from the warehouse in Denver...

Weatherhead for Rigid with conductors already in it

Yeah. I'm sorry I wasn't clear at first. I think that's all we can do other than pulling the wire out. This two piece weatherhead thing was just a pie in the sky hope. On the bright side, I've got a great new idea for weatherheads...

Weatherhead for Rigid with conductors already in it

We've run a fifty 50 pair 19 AWG comline from the bottom of our lift to the top. It starts in a control panel inside a motor room at the bottom. From there it runs out of the motor room and to the top of the first tower. Then it's strung from the top of each tower to the next with a messenger...

Weatherhead for Rigid with conductors already in it

Yep. I'm a ski lift electrician. One of our mechanics was helping push the wire. I wasn't up on the top of the lift tower, so I didn't notice that there wasn't one on yet. Ultimately, it's my **** up for not checking. I don't have a picture unfortunately.

Weatherhead for Rigid with conductors already in it

I just meant is there a weatherhead that can be attached to conduit without having to pull the wire out of it. Like there's two pieces that go on each side of the conduit and bolt together. We have a missing weatherhead at work and don't want to pull the wire out of the conduit to add it.
