The old vise at my shop....

Yeah, another 'what is this vise' thread. We have two of these old things at the shop where I started a couple weeks ago and neither of them seem to have any name on them. The main reason I'm posting today is to figure out where I can get a replacement jaw pad for the one pictured...I'm sure...

    Show your new tool arrivals

Just picked up this Blue Hawk multi-tool package and accessories today for under $70 out the door at Lowe's. I've been doing things the hard way at my house now for too long and today I had to have something to cut roof tin patches for one of the farm sheds. I was initially going to get the...

    Is this box worth it?

I have a BB Griplatch right now and can tell you that it's not much of an upgrade from the BB. I plan on finding a used truck brand (US) box that's lower and wider when I can justify spending the $$$$.

    Let's see your toolbox.

Not much....and looking to upgrade based upon the needs of my next job. 2004 C Man BB Grip latch that I bought new....been sitting back in MD since 2009. I'm graduating college here soon and bringing it to MO. My tools here in KS are all in small boxes and buckets....wouldn't fit in the C Man...

    ANOTHER Asian Floor Jack Rebuild?

Attached are pics of my Chinese Michelin 3.5 jack that I picked up a couple years ago at a seized property auction (auto shop went under). I think I have 40 bucks in it not including the oil. It provided me some decent service under my '89 Burban and '91 3/4 pickup but always tried to dribble...

Picked up some Craftsman wrench sets today on sale for $15 each USA made!

Nothing wrong with that deal. I'm still finding people all over the automotive school here that are oblivious to Chinese Craftsman.....sad times.

    Straightening a bent pipe wrench?

Indeed.....somebody must have cheater piped it hard....but a fine tool for what I paid...!? Anyway, I'm questioning whether or not bending it back would in fact work harden it and compromise the handle. That pic with the 40" is crazy....thanks for the input, fellas.

    Straightening a bent pipe wrench?

I bought this 24" Ridgid (steel) at a swap meet for 8 bucks and have used it for various things ever since. You'll notice it has quite a bend in the handle (from who knows what). It's kind of bugging me, even though the wrench works fine. Any ideas on methods to put it back straight? Thanks in...

Fleet 3/8 drive pieces and Snap-on WA28 sockets

Bump....still need the Fleet 1216 socket and 1265 extension. I got some awhile ago, but they had later style markings and the socket was a little big for the tray....my fault for not doing my homework first. Attached are some pics of the style of markings I need. Let me know....I also have the...

Will Evaporust work to remove rust from drill press column?

I have used Evaporust with decent success. Small parts...degreased w/any loose stuff knocked off. Submerse the stuff for at least 3 days....don't rush it. I filter mine back into the original container through a fresh coffee filter after every use and get some mileage out of it.

Anti-Slip, Flank Drive+, Knuckle Saver, etc.

I have a set of CAT combos (re-branded Williams Supercombo), and they have not disappointed me. Snap-on FD+ is a very tight fit that gets annoying during regular use (but great for damaged fasteners). In the absence of an anti-slip design, I much prefer my old Macs or my Matcos with their...

Pieces to complete military surplus puller set

Some of you may have seen me here before posting about this set. It's an Armstrong-Bray unit that I bought at an auction of military surplus items. From searching the National Stock Number, I officially determined that is incomplete, or may even have some extra pieces. The federal government...
