Just got back from the swap meet today...picked up all of this for $27. - Fleet 3/8" drive set #2406A. Missing #1265 3" extension, #1216 1/2" socket, and #1270 breaker bar....PM me if you have any of these or the case for sale. The separate socket and extension are both "JOBSMART" pieces that...

    Screwdriver Set Recommendation

JH Williams....their USA drivers are actually the old SO hard handles in black. Look on Ebay and elsewhere...they are quite reasonable. If I had to go back and buy just one set of drivers, I would have bought these...

Any opinions on Harbor Freight Auto Body Hammer Set?

From my experience with metal fab and body work, the cheap hammers and dollies aren't worth the money saved. They are soft and easily marked up by whatever you're working on. Do yourself a favor and get some used Martins or Plomb.

double open ended wrenchs worth keeping?

I have a set of Matco double opens with the four-way angle heads....used them a few times when nothing else would get in. If they didn't have the non-standard angles, I wouldn't have much use for them. Always good to have more wrenches in the box though...

Die to clean up these oddball puller threads?

Thanks fellas. I'm in school for auto restoration, and we have several lathes, so I think I'll just smooth the end out that way. Several other shafts in the set just have regular 3/4-16" threads, but others have the "buttress" type like this. mvptrukin, I think I have less than $80 into the...

Die to clean up these oddball puller threads?

I have a military surplus Armstrong-Bray puller set, and the end of one shaft is chewed up enough not to let the arm come off it. I would have just run a die on it by now, but the threads are oddball. It seems that the pitch is not uniform...one side is sloped and the other is straight up. Can...

    CAT tools

Their current combo wrenches are JH Williams. I bought a set used and the 15/16 was missing. No big deal, right? Ended up paying $52.00 for that one wrench even with my buddy's discount. When I worked for Cat in 2004, I bought a mini right angle die grinder that was Blue Point and a small...

    Armstrong - Bray puller set

I bought this Armstrong - Bray puller set awhile ago at an auction of military surplus tools. Recently, I started to notice how incomplete it was when I went to put together the bearing splitter setup. Specifically, the big "H" bar across the center is NOT threaded where the main shaft is...

I hate people, lots of them.

I work at a farm store here in Kansas and we accept **** returns all the time. Corporate just "wants to make the customer happy" and people abuse this all the time. A few that stand out: - 2 month old Husqvarna rider w/ a broken deck spindle...big dent in the blade from hitting something and...

    Tool I want...but don't know the name?

The truck has the stock 3 piece stereo (receiver, control head, and tape deck w/eq). From what I understand, these components frequently malfunction with age, but I'd like to keep mine stock. I didn't want a device to be plugged in the whole time during storage, just at the moments when power...

    Tool I want...but don't know the name?

Just wanted a device to keep my stereo receiver from having something happen to it when I connect or disconnect the battery...not concerned about losing my settings. Last board I had in my receiver went out after reconnecting the battery; truck had sat about 2 months inside and radio worked fine...

    Tool I want...but don't know the name?

I understand that there is a device that you can plug into the cigarette lighter of vehicles (with EFI) to protect against surges when the vehicle's battery is connected or disconnected. I want one for my '91 C2500 that is in storage a lot and has a sensitive stock radio receiver. I've also...

    Carlyle wrenches-quick pics

I see what the OP is saying about warranty. I bought a larger Napa Evercraft tool set in 2006 and have warrantied several pieces without trouble. I generally prefer my USA product as well, but I needed a road set and theirs was the most comprehensive.
