    Plunge / Track saw

These are some of the reasons I went with the Dewalt as well. I almost went for the cordless version, but I decided I'd rather have to not worry about charging another battery... Another reason I like the dewalt is they put sliders on the side of the saw (on the blade guard) so if you lay the...

    Fixture/jig weld table top

To each his own obviously. If I had the space I would probably also have a big heavy table as well, just because.. But in reality, for 99% of what I do a table like this works much better.. Most of what I do is just small frame type stuff out of aluminum, so I can't tack anything to the...

    Fixture/jig weld table top

I can't remember exactly, but the instructions do say to alternate weld locations when welding the Web or lattice together. Really though it is more like heavy tacks at each intersection. I didn't take pics, but I don't think I did anything more than a half inch weld. Also, you only weld...

Cheapest way to run temporary power.

We got to drive over it every day as well.. That always made me cringe. They just ran it right it the front door after crossing the parking lot...

    Fixture/jig weld table top

Ive got the 2x4 certiflat table and for light fab work and welding it is great, especially for the price. What it definitely is not is a big heavy table that you can beat the **** out of. But all I do with my Tig is fix stuff around the house and put together smaller projects (like a stand...

    Key operated garage door switch?

Sounds like the keypad is defective.. I have a similar wireless keypad I bought years ago at home depot and I think I have replaced the battery twice in 6or7 years? And that is using the door every day. I don't know if I'd want a hardwired switch outside my garage.. It would have to be very...

in need of a small easily portable work bench

I have one of these as well and it works really well. I frequently strap my small jobsite table saw to it. It is a pretty solid stand, plastic or not, and it folds up pretty compactly.

    WiFi IN MY SHOP

Just keep in mind, this is a patch cable and isn't intended to be used outside or buried in conduit. Long pulls could also damage patch cables if one isn't pretty carefull. I'm not saying it won't work at all, just that it is not the correct type of cable for an outdoor/buried application...

AFCI breaker required in detached garage?

I think AFCI is only required on lighting circuits in dwelling units, but I may be mistaken. I doubt you need one for your application (assuming the garage/shop isn't a dwelling unit).

Lol, my neighborhood isn't that high end, I'm pretty sure the cops would just keep driving..

    Open garage door reminder

This is what installed at my place and it works pretty well. It actually wasn't very good when when I first put it in a few years ago (the app that is, the opener works well) but since then they added auto login and cleaned things up. You can set different rules as well if you want; I have a...

    plumbing for toilet

Depends on how cheap the toilet is I think; my downstairs toilet has a 3" pipe (100 year old house) with no flange so I have to use the internal style and I did get some clogging with the $50 toilet the PO put in, but when I replaced the old toilet with a decent one it completely eliminated...

    The Samurai Workbench

Just watched that video the a couple days ago.. It is very impressive. I'm not a big fan of his, but the work he does is certainly beautiful.

Concrete Two Basin Laundry Sink Find

I had one of these in my house (built in 1915) until last year when I re-did the basement laundry room.. They are pretty cool when cleaned up, but mine was leaking and in pretty rough shape.. I ended up breaking it down with my SDS drill which worked pretty well and then busted the pieces...

    Help with floating workbench

That sounds like more or less how I did mine. This is a quick sketch of what I did: For the work surface i just bought pre laminated counter tops. The setup works very well for me, but one downside is if you are planning any really heavy fab work or really need to pound on things it isn't as...

Where/ How do you store your winter/ summer tires?

I store the tires for my wife's corolla on a 2x4 rack I made similar to the picture you have, on the back of my shed outside.. I just bag each tire so they don't get full of water.. I don't personally have the space inside to waste on tires..

Running romex inside of walls with a surface mount breaker box???

Any pictures of the box? You definitely need to use a clamp coming out of the box with romex .. Don't listen to anyone who tells you otherwise. I could be wrong, but I believe you can run 2 NM-B through one clamp. This post edited by the NSA
