    Ridgid Pipe Wrench Age?

Pat No. 1727623 You can check it out here. http://www.google.com/patents?vid=USPAT1727623 Oddly your patent number shows up as a typographical machine. http://www.google.com/patents/US1127628?dq=1127628&ei=RrWpUIawM4268wTemIGICQ

    Ridgid Pipe Wrench Age?

A guy at work picked up a couple of Ridgid pipe wrenches at an estate sale a couple weeks ago. I bought one from him and cleaned it up as it had seen better days. Here it is as I purchased it. It's had a cheater bar on it at some point and was bent in both directions. I managed to get the...

    Thoughts on this Arbor Press?

Definately overpriced. It looks like a standard Chinese 3-Ton arbor press. Northern Tools has it for $230 http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_20674_20674

Yeah, a whole $2. He wasn't selling the complete set previously. I wasn't going to quibble over the price.

    Flea Market Score

I went back to the same dealer at the flea market and dug around some more. What did I find attached to the end of a rusty extension? The 5/8" socket I was missing. The guy also had a Snap On TQFR250C 1/2" drive 250ftlb torque wrench. What is a good price on those? Think I could get by...

    Flea Market Score

I went to scrounge around the local flea market like I do every weekend and was rewarded by finding most of a Snap-On socket set. It is the 3/8" drive deep 6 pt SAE SFS081-SFS281 set though the 5/8" SFS201 socket is missing. Not much wear but pretty rusty inside. I also found a Snap-On 5"...

    Woodworkers?

If you enjoy woodworking you might want to give them a try. I do woodworking as a hobby and enjoy using older tools. I find that once you've sharpened the irons on planes and taken a little time to set them up they work quite well. I find the regular planes useful for flattening boards that...

    Rockwell Delta DP

Nice buy. Looks like a good machine. Your wobble could be from the chuck, spindle, or bearings. First check to make sure the chuck is tight on the spindle. It is held on with a collar so it might havecome loose. If it is on tight, Without the press running, grab the chuck and see if you can...

    Old bandsaw at auction

Killer deal on a great saw. They're still copied by everyone to this day. For $10 it was a steal. I just finished replacing bearings and tires on a Rockwell version of this saw. Check out my site if you want to see what is involved in doing that: http://somanyhobbies.wordpress.com/ It's a...

    Fave LED Flashlight

4Sevens makes good stuff. I've got a Quark "X" 123^2 that I'm happy with . It puts out a lot of light for such a small flashlight.

My first cheap vise, $25 American Scale Co 4"

I don't think you did that bad for $25. I don't think the part missing from the threaded piece will affect it as long as it isn't cracked. It kinda looks like a crack in one of the pics of the threaded piece but that could be a casting line or something. Do the jaws need to come off? If so...

    Kershaw leek knife (USA-made)

The Leek is a great knife. I've carried the composite one for the better part of two years. The Blur is another good US made knife from Kershaw.

    Drill Press "Knock"

Probably a problem with one of the bearings in the motor. The belt pulls on the shaft which puts a sideload on the bearings and can cause the knock to be worse than if the belt was not on. Pull the motor and take it apart. The bearings can be removed and replaced pretty easily.
