Listing it for twice the value just hurts potential buyers down the road. Let’s say it sells for half of the outrageous asking price it will be listed at full price in the sold listings with a best offer accepted notation. The next guy that checks the sold listings will think that’s the going...

unfortunately clueless/greedy sellers that list them for twice their selling price on eBay are driving the prices on these through the roof.

The one on the right is the cleanest example that I’ve ever seen.

I just found an incredible hulk type post vise today and it’s a beast. The jaws are 7-1/2” wide and I would say it weighs around 170 lbs. it was missing the mounting bracket but I can just fab one if I can’t find a period correct one. This is by far the biggest Columbian post vise that I’ve had...

Being a cabinetmaker I have a soft spot for Coachmakers vises. What’s not to like about good old fashion American made iron.

Thanks Shift. It actually had me scratching my head when I first saw it, I didn’t recall ever seeing one before. I found one in an old Prentiss brochure that Parker put out. This was made at the same time as the retro Prentiss with the handwriting logo.

It’s no easy task to find a Prentiss vise that isn’t in the spreadsheet these days so I’m happy to post this one. This is a Prentiss 73-1/2, it has 3-1/2” jaws and weighs in at 9lbs. These were made in the late 40’s when Parker bought out Prentiss.
