    The VISES of Garage Journal

I joke that I have more Wilton’s in stock that Wilton does. Rest assured that they will all be returned back to the wild someday, I’m just preserving them for future generations to use and enjoy. let’s just say Wilton is aware of my existence.

    Queen City pedestal grinder

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it. I found this box and it appears to be the wider size that will fit my faceplate. I’m not sure if it will work or not for a 5hp motor.

    Queen City pedestal grinder

I know this is a really old post but I see that you’re still active here. I recently got a Queen City 5Hp grinder like yours and I’m trying to track down a period correct AB switch for it. Do you know the model number of your switch by any chance?

    The VISES of Garage Journal

The mail came today and it was one of my best days ever. I got 7 Wilton baby bullets and 4 PowerArms in one shot. They’re all in great condition and can’t wait to start working on them, the yellow paint goes first. There are two patent pending models with the raised anvil and a 1945 model with...

Congratulations on finding the vise Willy, I’m green with envy. Like I said before I would put the vise in the 140 year old range. I’m glad that it came your way, it’s a rare piece indeed.

That’s a beauty Shift, it looks like it’s been lightly used. Prentiss called this vise the Triple Ser-vise. It was billed as a machinist vise, a pipe vise and an anvil all rolled into one.

Craftsman Drill Press Information Belts, Bearings, Chucks, Keys, etc…1946-1984

I’m in the west. I got the gray one about a year ago. It was the sellers grandfather that owned the press. It came out of a plant that made parts for the war effort. When he retired he took the press with hm. He painted it and did a great job on it, that’s why I haven’t touched it.

Craftsman Drill Press Information Belts, Bearings, Chucks, Keys, etc…1946-1984

Thanks Frank. You’re right about the motor, 1/4 hp won’t be strong enough for my needs. I have a couple of the old Mohawk style presses. The gray one is complete and in great condition. The blue one is missing quite a few parts so I might swap out the motor from that one. I would also consider...

Craftsman Drill Press Information Belts, Bearings, Chucks, Keys, etc…1946-1984

Thanks Hoorn. I’m going to have to slowly clean the motor to preserve the badge, the crud has hardened on there.

It came out of the pacific northwest. I made the case to a fellow poster that it belonged in my collection and he graciously agreed. After all I have more Wilton’s in stock than Wilton does.
