    Metric Car Tool Set

I've recently looked at a lot of sets and think they all kinda ****. In my eyes the perfect set would be a full size run of 1/4 regular and deep 6 point sockets and a full size run of 1/2 regular and deep 6 point sockets. The 1/2 stuff should go up to at least 24mm. Go euro style and skip the...

    toptul facom?

I love that this forum is just a wealth of information. Pulling the trigger on the USAG wrenches and some circlip pliers. They'll partially match my Facom ratchets made by USAG.

    toptul facom?

Facom 440's at a lower price...USAG 285's. https://www.usag.it/catalog/en/products/details/2/285/Combination_wrenches These can be purchased for less than the Facom and slightly more than the Toptul. https://www.misterworker.com/en/usag/wrenches/standard-combination-wrenches/805 I think...

    toptul facom?

So deciding to try and buy some Toptul AAEX wrenches...hard part if finding a source. No distributor in Canada anymore, and the Wren tool doesn't list the AAEX sets or singles. I am looking for the 12pcs set and 17mm and 19mm singles. The extra 17mm and 19mm are for my small lathe and mill...

1/4 drive to 1/4 hex locking bit adapter?

Snap-On seems to be the only one I can find that makes a 1/4 Hex in a roto head. I don't think these have a real positive lock retention on power style bits. I picked up a Titan 1/4 roto head ratchet on Amazon for $10 ($10 Candian so basically free in USD) and really like it. It's got the same...

1/4 drive to 1/4 hex locking bit adapter?

Isn't the whole point of GJ to overthink things? :) Click on the youtube link above and see the difference between Wera and Wiha. I plan to put a set screw into the adapter to lock it onto the ratchet and remove the slop there. A couple ratchets will end up being dedicated tools for working...

1/4 drive to 1/4 hex locking bit adapter?

Have you used the Apex ones? They are spendy, but if they lock down the bit without wobble it's what I am looking for. Lots make these. SnapOn TMC109A Wera 784 Wera 8784 Facom Koken Just no info on the wobble factor.

1/4 drive to 1/4 hex locking bit adapter?

I am looking for a 1/4 drive to 1/4 hex adapter with a solid locking feature to it. Planning to use these with the E style power bits (Wera calls them Series 4 bits) and not the little short insert bits. This style bit The Wiha CentroFix seem to hold bits the more secure with no wobble...

72 Tooth Taiwan vs 84 tooth Gearwrench ratchets

These and most all of the roto head ratchets of this design on the market use a copy of the Facom round head mechanism. If it shipped with just some oil in it then replace with some light grease and it will feel nice.

    Show your new tool arrivals

Titan 1106 1/4 drive swivel head. In the package it felt dry and rough with a longer swing than the 72t should be. Opened it up and it just had a touch of oil on the internals. Cleaned that off and lubricated it with some Slickoleum (a light grease used on suspension fork seals). Felt 100...

    Brazing with Propane

I fillet braze bikes with Oxy-propane. The handle is a Uniweld 71 and I use the Victor UN-J mixer and TEN multi fuel rated tips. From my understanding you'll want the multi fuel tips instead of the regular acetylene tips. The common comment with the bike builders that use propane is they braze...

    Between 485 & 705 SQ/FT Mid-Century Moto Mecca Makeover

I just bought a small lathe...totally building one of those tools to spin the compound knob. Mine will be fillet brazed instead of welded as I work with the hot bronze glue gun method and not tig.

White tiles with black grout. That is the stuff. Just did our bath tub with 12"x24" white ceramic tile in a 1/2 tile offset with black grout. Just a regular unsanded grout none of that crazy epoxy stuff. Always enjoy seeing updated in your threads. I predict that trailer is going to get a...

    any bicycle frame builders

First bike is a tubeset from Cycles Nova.. It's 4130 bike specific butted tubing. I braze with an oxy/propane set-up. My oxy if via an oxygen concentrator (used medical unit). Torch is a little Uniwled 71 running specific tips for the propane (TEN tips). This thread on Vsalon has great info on...

    any bicycle frame builders

I've built a frame jigless. Working on another at the moment and lots of plans to build more jigless. These two sections of angle would be the closest thing to a jig I've used. Hand files, vise, some tube blocks and a hack saw will get you started.
