Got this CT-630 mini torch in today. I have to say, this thing is super nice. The plastic is glass fiber reinforced and it has a great feel and heft. The bottle unscrews from the top. It's nicer than my Portasol. Pull the trigger and hold for instant heat, or pull the lock with your thumb for...

And the fact that they pulled the 3/8 flex ratchet a month after releasing it due to jamming and still haven't gotten an improved one figured out over a year later. Gaping hole in the ratchet lineup. Does not inspire confidence.

    Ratchet insight, anyone?

I love the Snap-On Dual 80s. My favorite is the FLF80A. It just has a premium feel to the mechanism and is a joy to use. I definitely go for the regular handle vs comfort grip -- Dual 80s last a long time, but rubber wears out.

Is there a tool that can tell me how much propane left in the tank?

I have a Dometic LP Gas Checker. It seems to work most of the time, but I've also had a few times where I really have to move up and down and take readings multiple times to feel confident in the level. Of course, the best way to really know is a scale, but this gives me a decent idea...

    Mechanic's "Ten Commandments" And Tips

To add to #5... when I was 16 I started working construction and one of the graybeards told me "if something big is falling over, get the hell out of the way -- don't try to catch it." That piece of advice has saved my *** a few times over the years. Let it fall.

    Astro Pneumatic Tool Company

Was really looking forward to this one. What I REALLY want, and can't find anywhere, is so simple and you'd sell a million of them. Just an adapter that works with your ball joint press or BJP1 (I have both) that accepts 1/2" sockets. Super simple. All of a sudden you'd have a nice wide range...

    Tekton 50% off at Meijer

Look for their Made in USA stuff. A lot of it is rebranded Wilde stuff at a fraction of the price. Probably to fill out their line.

Rear Disc Brakes Piston Turning Tool

I have the fancy kit with the 400 different magnetic adapters, forward, reverse, sidways, upside down clamps, and a nice blow molded case. I use the Rubik's cube.

    M12 Die Grinder

I love mine as an actual die grinder with a burr bit. Roloc disks not so much (it bogs down if you go too hard, but it's ok). 3" cutoff wheel? Don't even bother -- it's not meant for it and flips the heat protection after a few seconds of use. My Aircat, CP, and IR air grinders can handle a...

What happened to the icon 3/8 flex ratchet? They were recalled about a year ago!

How many of you bolt down your 4-posts?

It's pretty slick. They attach with a pin in a minute or so, and then you just let the lift down. The weight of the tracks cantilevers the feet right off the floor.

How many of you bolt down your 4-posts?

Mine's not bolted down. It came with casters and I move it from its winter home to summer home across the shop by myself twice a year.

Need New Come Along, Power Puller, or Chain Hoist

I just used a Warn Drill Winch to pull a deer stand (built on its side) into its forever home. In the past we've done it with come alongs, but this little guy was so much easier. You just chuck it up in your cordless drill and winch! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B082N5QL9H/?tag=atomicindus08-20...

Small LED Work Light with no fru-fru

I have 4 or 5 Astro 40SL and SL Max lights and they've been amazing. At least two of them have made round trips around town under cars. One of them has a loose dimmer switch but I contribute that to... well, round trips around town under cars. The fact that it even has a dimmer switch, and its...

    Anyone ever downsize in toolboxes?

Hi, this is interesting. Could you expand on this? My 1/2" stuff gets used all the time, especially on suspension stuff.

    All purpose torch recommendation

I have a Smith Little Torch on my small portable oxy/acetylene tote. It has no problem heating stuff cherry red for bolt removal. The advantages are that it has a nice small pinpoint flame so you don't burn up stuff surrounding it, and it absolutely saves a TON of gas. My old torch on the same...

Just curious, since just this week I deliberated hard on which set to get (Mountain or ICON). Icon was $160 with coupon, Mountain was $140 from Amazon. I got the Mountain. Am I missing something besides the easier warranty at HF?
