Home generator - Am I crazy?

That's roughly equal to 50k miles on a 300 Ford six in a pickup, I'm sure all of us know the reputation of that engine. One of the reasons I'd consider oversizing that much is the expected dependability of the engines in portables vs a real industrial machine. I don't think you're crazy...

How many cans of PVC cement...

How many? All of them. And I've been messin' with PVC since the late 60s, yep, I'm that old.

Moving into metal building shop. The insulation is filthy but intact. Cleaning?

I It's your money, my advice. I'd go price some liner panels for a metals supplier. Usually cheaper than the exterior stuff. IME, it will be very difficult to do later in a working shop, so if at all possible do it before moving in. If the insulation is more than just a few years old that...

Automotive wiring kit WITH dispenser box - help needed

I think that electron flow theory only applies to higher voltages and AC current. DC, not so much. Memory may be faulty but that's what I recall.

Trouble Bonding Laminate to Shower Stall Wall

I'd bet one of the auto panel bonding adhesives would work. But a tube of that and matching dispenser is more expensive than a new shower, complete. edit. Or one of the adhesive packages used with solid surface countertop materials. But those have the same cost issues.

Air compressor pump repair - 3 cylinder Husky 5HP 80gal

If the reed valves are intact but don't seal well, sometime turning them over will restore the spring tension when closed. I've had difficulty in the past with similar gasket leaks. Turns out the factory finish on replacement valve plates was too smooth and used with a graphite impregnated...

    Adapter needed

No, confused by power coming out of the camp. Where did the camp get power to send out? Semantics I know but I confuse easily.

    Adapter needed

It would remove most doubt if the terms plug and receptacle were always used. Along with the marked voltage and amp ratings. I just got confused with something coming out when I see it as power going in.

    Century Old Flooring Question

Most floors of that type and age have huge air leaks through and around them. If the floor was installed after the walls where framed, and most were, there is fairly large gap at the perimeter as well as smaller gaps between boards. Those must be corrected somehow if you want improve the...

    Concrete floor problems

I would rent a power floor scraper intended for that purpose. That should remove 'lumps and bumps' down to the black stuff. That 'paint' is probably not really paint but the original vinyl tile adhesive.

Alright leaf people, what's the best way

60" ZTR with Gator blades, no mulch kit. Mow around the area directing the cut grass/leaves toward the center. Once all have been reduced to mulch sized pieces I may or may not reverse the direction to spread thinner, depends on the size of the area I'm dealing with. Big areas or deep leaves...

Main feed electrical questions! Pole barn

My local city utility requires 3"for any new residential service. Customer supplies conduit, utility provides wire and will not pull into smaller. 4/0 aluminum doesn't bend so easy through 90s, and each underground has at least 2 of them, mine has 3.

Main feed electrical questions! Pole barn

I would probably opt for a 2 panel solution. One receiving to power from the meter base and a living area panel fed from it. Saving wire on both the feed and living area at the expense of an additional panel. And I'd use aluminum, probably 4/0 for the feed as it seems it will be in...

What EXACTLY do i need for 3ph air compresser to single phase? Is this worth it?

Filling with water and pressurizing with a grease gun is a lot safer! If it fails the test there won't be an explosion, just a leak. Pressure washer will work, but be sure it's filled with water first so no stored pressure.

    Masonry fence/wall questions

I vote for a footing 8" thick with it's bottom no higher than 18" and 24" wide. Reducing the thickness provides plenty of strength and greatly reduces the workload. Add a block course to get above ground level. Tipping resistance is mostly provided by the width. Bond beam on the top course...

    Wall mount for condenser

I don't like that for a lot of reasons, most stated above. Airflow clearance from the wall, and I can't see how the indoor unit is mounted at all are the biggies. Are the screws penetrating the wall metal or???? I'd not be concerned with the exterior mount from a weight perspective as...

    Simpson strapping

Exactly what I've was taught to do years ago. Except we used common nails, 8d or 16d. We used rolls of 1" wide banding with holes punched every inch that the local lumber yard carried. It was used for everything, building/setting concrete forms, Xing studs behind the ply sheathing in every...

HP rating is HP rating ?

Some single phase motors are reversible. I have a shaper with a 120/240 single phase 3/4hp that reverses using a drum switch. wiring is more complicated that a reversing 3 phase but works well.

Senior newbie has 2 more Stupid Question on plywood sub top

Usually undermounts are attached to bottom of the counter's finished surface. Or flush with the ply subtop, same thing. Pics of your sink and it's attaching hardware would help.
