When were Sears best years ?

In the Parallel Universe vintage tools are worthless because the new Chinese ones are way better than the American ones they replaced

China Cman vs USA, pics in here!

x2. I have an old Peterson Vise Grip pair I got at a garage sale for 50 cents, no comparison to anything in stores today.

When were Sears best years ?

I think Sears wanted $200 just to assemble the coil overs for my Jeep. (not even install, just compress the springs/shocks/top plate). They always tried to sell the 4 wheel alignment, when only the front is adjustable anyway.

When were Sears best years ?

Sears's auto service is/was terrible. Overpriced, and won't touch anything modified. Takes forever. The Diehard batteries are **** too, never got more than 2 years from one. Tire prices and selection sucked too.

I'd be interested in trying that, is there a certain rebuild kit to order that would have the right pawl?

    Stubby 1/2" Ratchets

Yeah, but if you didn't have room for it. I'm drawing at straws as to when a 1/2" stubby would be better than a 3/8. Lol.

    Stubby 1/2" Ratchets

The only thing I could think of is if the socket size you're using is not commonly available in 3/8" drive, like say a 24mm or something.

I have the 84 tooth one, I love it. I wish they made a flex head one.

    Sunex Pit Pro Impact Sockets

How'd you get the $20 option? What exactly does the non slip design mean? I haven't seen a single new socket that isn't radius ground, so is that what they are referring to?

    Stubby 1/2" Ratchets

I agree, if you're constrained to a stubby then 3/8" drive would be plenty of torque and be easier yet to manage size wise.

China Cman vs USA, pics in here!

Picked up a China 3/8" flex head ratchet today for $15 on sale. (I prefer the handle shape of this one over HF). It actually feels nicer than a USA Cman one that I got back in 2012. Now- that's not really a hard standard to beat but it is an improvement and feels like a good tool. Here are...

    Ratcheting open end wrenches.

I have a gear wrench metric set of them. I like them, you kind of have to get a feel for them. But not having that feature would be fine too, actually I haven't seen any new Gearwrench ones with it lately.

When were Sears best years ?

I agree. I think Sears began the decline as soon as they had to start playing catch up....first Walmart....then the Internet and then Amazon. They didn't position themselves very well to compete with any of those, they figured nothing could really have a large impact on them. The Kmart deal...

Mechanix gloves- keep going or switch brands

Sounds like they might have gone downhill then? I know these were China made. The HF comparable ones are $15, may as well just get the Mechanix ones again.

Mechanix gloves- keep going or switch brands

Yep! Not everyday use, but most weekends and mostly worked hard and put away wet. Probably like $20 or so, anything around what these were new. How old were the original ones you had? Just trying to figure out if they've changed since these were made. I'm leaning towards another pair...

Mechanix gloves- keep going or switch brands

Looking to get a new set of gloves. I have the original Mechanix ones, they're 7 years old. They finally started getting some holes and won't clean up anymore. Are they still a good choice? Or are there any newcomers that are worth trying?

Snap on tools... is it worth it?

Why would a driver not take cash sales? Is it because that customer will be paid up and therefore not be a reoccurring visitor to make payments (and hence would have a higher chance of buying more stuff when they visit to make payments?) I thought they'd be fine with it- no risk of not getting...

    3/4 inch breaker bar

I wonder if the reducers are made to be weaker in general so its like a fuse for the system. I'd rather break a reducer than the breaker bar or socket.
