Impact sockets & sockets for DIYer?

For non-USA, if you have a Napa near you, it's hard to beat their impact sockets. They are Sunex sockets rebranded for Napa. Warranty is a cinch. For USA, you want to make sure that warranty won't be too difficult or costly. If you have a Fastenal near you, they can warranty for you (buy them...

Where do you buy american Hose Clamps?

I know that Fastenal sells Ideal, COO unknown-I will look this week. One thing to watch for: they have two types next to each other without much labeling 1)SS band and steel screw and 2)SS clamp and SS screw.

    should I buy this ratchet?

Looks nearly identical to some of the Armstrong offerings. For that price you should do well.

Nuts and Bolts and Washers.......Oh My!

I use the smaller Durham drawers and racks for holding my GRK screws, mostly R4's and cabinet screws with a few of their RSS.

Anyone else a big fan of the fine tooth SK /Facom era "Tuff1" ratchets?

Can these ratchets be warranty'd by SK? I have one, 42475 I think, that needs some TLC. It was my dads ratchet and it was put in one of my boxes by mistake; he thought it was a 'junk' box. Any one had any luck with warranty?

    Wow, I love this ratchet

It seems some of the 1/4 Maxx ratchets have had some quality control issues at some point in their production. I love mine, as many do, but there are a few mentions of them locking up or binding on people. I don't think that should be expected of a premium ratchet, but if you can get one that...

    Snap On 60" Epiq

I've seen this ad in Maine as well. More common in my area is someone posting a KRA stack, and advertising it as a KRL stack, and asking KRL prices.

    Let's see your toolbox.

Hey, did you make that frame for your box or was it something you purchased? Any chance we could see some photos of the contents? I really like brown wrinkle Kennedy boxes and I've been considering going in the same direction as you, but likely without the top boxes. I was planning on make a...

    Threading grade 8 bolts?

Your local Fastenal can probably help you out. They call them 'tap bolts' for whatever reason.

BAHCO 80 tooth VS Armstrong 88 tooth

Armstrong recently upgraded all of the Maxx series to have 88 teeth. There is a press release on their website somewhere. My 1/2" Maxx ratchets are 60 teeth, and I don't think I've missed out by having 28 fewer teeth.

Are the Dewalt 20V XR Brushless worth it?

I think some of the cordless tool companies hurt themselves by have so many options that sound so similar to each other. One of the products I sell is tools and on a near weekly basis, people call me and say 'What's the difference?' Luckily, for myself and my customers, I am a tool guy. It...

Any one use Gedore adjustables? They look pretty good, but too much coin to buy one just to try.

    Why so many tools?

I don't tend to have many if any duplicates of the tools I own. I do, however, have a wide variety of tools in my collection. Like many of the folks on GJ, having the right tool for nearly any job that could come up is important to me. I do quite a bit of small engine work, some automotive and...

Pulled the trigger on an Armstrong MAXX 1/4

I have all of the Maxx series of ratchets. Love each and every one. I use both 3/8 models the most (flex and standard) followed by the 1/2 flex. I'm hoping they come out with extra long, non flex versions in each size. If they don't I'll probably go to Snap On for those.

    Everyday knife??

Yes! I carry my Sodbuster Jr. everywhere. It's small enough and understated enough that it doesn't raise eyebrows when you need to use it in a public place. If I know I'll need to do some heavy work with a knife, I'll grab a Benchmade to go in another pocket. I keep a Leatherman Wave in my...

Hey folks, Been lurking for a while but have decided to leap into posting as a member. As the name says, I'm a Registered Maine Guide (Fishing, Recreation), but my day job is construction and industrial supply. I do some small engine work on the side but I don't usually charge for it. I...
