    Looks like I'm moving

I have a 12x24 building which is occupied by a sports car and some woodworking machines. I'll try to post up a sketch of how it's laid out right now. Even if you're set on its home you should make provisions to move the stationary stuff. Almost all of my stuff is mobile, or could be mobile...

How do you store stubby wrenches?

I left mine in the tray they came in. I'm surprised nobody has recommended a stubby toolbox...

18" deep middle chests - suddenly rare

SPG International has them: http://www.spginternational.com/en/products/tool-storage/tech-series/158-vri-2703 Which you may buy from Home Depot: http://www.homedepot.com/p/International-Tech-Series-27-in-3-Drawer-Intermediate-Chest-Red-VRI-2703RD/203715426 I feel like they're a bit pricey...

    altersaddle's 12x24 workshop

More work on the chisel box this week/weekend. Got a handle, and finished off the woodwork on the inside. Just need to get or make some rubber feet and a bit of foam or felt to stop them from rattling around, then it's done.

    Tool Blogs

My guess is that's not a curated blog at all, but rather an automated script that mashes words together so that it shows up on search results. People search, click, and see some ads. Profit!

    altersaddle's 12x24 workshop

Yesterday I put the top and bottom on the box, today I opened it up and put some hardware on. I used more leftover click flooring for the panels. It's OK to work with, the melamine finish doesn't take glue well so I cut into it a bit to expose the particle board core. Coming together...

    Aluminum drift boat build.

+1 on that. Foam can get waterlogged too, and then you have two problems.

    altersaddle's 12x24 workshop

Tonight I discovered that many of my router bits are too big around for the standard porter-cable baseplate. So I made a ghetto plate out of scrap click flooring with a bigger hole for the bit. Did the job, I carved out a 3/8" rabbet in the lumber to build the box and glued it up. I also...

Tool Recommendations for Vintage Truck Tool Roll

I wouldn't bother with the combination wrenches, unless there are lots of common sized fasteners. I kept a 7/16" wrench in the Triumph for the hard top bolts I used. I'd add a money clip and a length of baling wire.

    altersaddle's 12x24 workshop

Today I got the wood lathe running again, it's been serving duty as a wire wheel for too long. Last trip to Lee Valley I got some chisels. What with having extra lumber from dismantling the deck, I figure I should make a proper home for them. But before doing that I wanted to sort out a few...

advice needed: standards for garage sizing / addition costs

That question is impossible to answer without knowing where you live. It varies from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. There's no end-all "official designation" of what construes an n-car structure, same as there's no real definition on how much room a person needs in a bedroom. Costs to alter...

Where to find cheap router bearings?

Wow, today's my day for pasting links from Lee Valley (four or five so far): http://www.leevalley.com/en/Wood/page.aspx?p=30124&cat=1,33084,46180&ap=1 Also seems to be a good location if you need just one tiny bearing, I need a 24x8x8 bearing for my palm sander.

    Aluminum drift boat build.

All the oars/paddles made by Barkley Sound are old growth clear Sitka Spruce. The long ones are laminated because it doesn't make sense to waste away that much wood to make an oar. Make sure to seal your oars so they can't sink!

    Another What's This Tool.....

Yup, saw tooth jointer. Lee Valley engineered a new one, same principle though: http://www.leevalley.com/en/wood/page.aspx?p=32631&cat=1,43072,43089,32631

    Aluminum drift boat build.

Bit late to this party, but my uncle makes oars. A pair of 8'6" for your drift boat are just over $250USD. Shipping 'em costs another $50 or so. http://www.barkleysoundoar.com/ He's a one-man shop so may not respond right away to calls/emails. The oars are amazing though, very light and strong.

Above 1200 Sq/FT The Salvage Garage

Lee Valley sells square plastic bins: http://www.leevalley.com/en/wood/page.aspx?p=70893&cat=1,43326 To outfit a cabinet it's going to be spendy though, even with the bulk discount. Looks like Schaller is a much a better option for a big purchase.

Above 1200 Sq/FT The Salvage Garage

I've got the same problem with my tiny shop. There are bits of scrap wood squirreled away everywhere. I don't like it, but I also don't know how to fix it. Solving the overflow problem can't be impossible. Presumably there are lots of solutions out there. I'm trying NOT to hoard too much...

    altersaddle's 12x24 workshop

It's been a long time and I haven't made any progress on the Triumph, which is a bummer. I did replace the jaws on the Workmate, though. Finally got to use a bunch of the tools I've been hoarding. Used tee nuts instead of trying to rescue the original ones, which I think were epoxied in...

    Body Panel Question

Might be better to post a picture with an arrow pointing at what you want to identify. If you mean the part that the door striker/latch fastens onto, on the body, that's called the B Post or B Pillar https://www.themustangshop.ca/catalog/657982 also https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pillar_(car)...
