Are the Craftsman Finger Grip Socket Adapter useful?

I don't own one of these yet, but I can see where these would be great when installing spark plugs on my old VWs and Porsche 914 where I like to finger thread them first. The knurled end would be much better than the slippery end of the socket. Gonna find me a set, but don't know what brand to...

    railroad rail anvil

I agree, that thing could take center stage in my living room, but even that isn't worthy enough for it. That's art right there.

Watch craigslist or if you have a rail yard nearby, stop in with a case of beer. Just don't go walking the tracks looking for discarded rail to lob a chunk off of. I hear there is a heavy penalty for that. Oh, almost forgot, check the scrap yards.

All I can say is that thing is stunning. Do you know who milled it? I'm guessing it was long long ago. Damn, that thing is nice!

Gonna hop on the Sears Bashing Bandwagon... Prybars no longer made in US by Wilde

The reason I bought Craftsman in the first place is, because they were not priced in the stratosphere and they were made in America. The warranty was a bonus, but even as a kid I saw how they opened themselves up for abuse and have seen it abused by guys I've worked with. They would take garage...

    railroad rail anvil

Yup, as the others said, go back and pray it's still there. Even if you don't want it, you can flip it for some extra cash. And who doesn't like more cash?

That's a nice truck. I'm in Dexter and am willing to trade you a rusty 99 S-10 and half a box of Little Debbie Nutty Bars for it. But seriously, that is a nice truck, even the color I like. I don't know if you've ever owned one before, if not, pay attention to the galvanizing on the oil...

Refurbs as warranty replacements at Sears?

This did not sit well with me the first time it happened to me. I am kind of picky when it comes to my purchases and how I take care of my tools. Kind of OCD about it. I inspect everything on the rack and take the best of the bunch. So when he reached into his magic drawer of beat up sh*t, well...

Help me keep a friend, lose an air compressor

I had that same compressor, I bought it new for $450 in 98 or 99. Ended up selling it to my Father for $350 a year later still boxed up, because I did not want to mess with hard wiring it. Personally I would value it at $200 to $250 and still I would not bite at that price. Way too loud. I'm...

    it's 2013 garage sale season!...

I was like you for years. My buddies would find all kinds of sweet stuff and all I ever seemed to find were baby cloths and toys. Then I discovered that there was more to it than just happening across a garage sale. I discovered that it is not only the time that you go, but also where you go...

    Kobalt 3/8 Flex head ratchet

Went into Lowes for this today and like everybody said, it was in the lawn & garden section. Price on the display was $19 and change. I had the girl scan it and sure enough it was $17.97. Sweet little ratchet, but as others said, it was bone dry. I lubed it up and this thing rocks. Thanks for...

    I Need A Machinists Box

Watch Craigslist, there are a lot of Kennedies that pop up on there. Sometimes they even include tools and generally are taken care of. I got my top and bottom from a guy who's job went away, and it was like new for $150. The off shoring this country has done put a lot of these boxes on the...

Did Snap On ever make flex head ratcheting wrenches?

I am 99.9% sure they did. The reason I know is that three and a half years ago, my buddy/coworker got this guy a job as a mechanic at our company. Well, one day I was helping him fix a boom forklift on the job site and he was using them. I made a point of saying "holy sh*t, those are nice. How...
