Who makes a quality thickness guage for sheet metal?

I bought an older Starrett off of ebay like this one for $5. You just have to watch. http://www.ebay.com/itm/STARRETT-Wire-Sheet-Metal-Gage-Model-283-DIAMETER-3-1-4-Thickness-1-8-/221239269546?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3382e358aa If accuracy is a real concern I would only go with a high...

    Channellock 386

Personally I think that *****. QC is very important for American made products. It's hard enough to sell to the dumbed down masses. Don't go ******* off your educated customers. I love Channelloc products and don't want to see them slip off the low quality slope. I had the same thought that...

Thank you. I didn't think they would still be in business. Never even heard of Nupla before. I wonder if they are still USA made?

    it's 2013 garage sale season!...

I have a Nupla version. I found it in like new condition in a dumpster, but both pads are missing. Any idea who sells them? I would like to put this thing to work.

Does anyone else have a Tuff Girl?

No, but now I want one. Sheesh, how did I ever get by without one of those? Would look good sitting next to the ********* wrenches.

    Satin vs. Full Polish Wrenches

Yeah, I don't think resale will be a factor for most of us that are tool junkies and most of our stuff will be sold for 25 cents to a $1 at a garage sale after we are dead. Now the flipper will be concerned with this. I do however like to pickup tools for a couple bucks at a garage/estate sale...

    START OVER - Hindsight 20/20

My Dad bought me my first Craftsman socket set for Christmas when I was 12 so I would not change that, but I would have started buying tools earlier than I did. I just used my Dads when I didn't have it. I would have went with SK instead of Cman. I would have spent way less on alcohol and bought...

    Satin vs. Full Polish Wrenches

I buy a lot of second hand tools and have noticed that the high polished ones can and do chip at times. Looks to be more from hard use abuse or cheaper chrome process on the lesser brands. On the flip side I have a few satin wrenches that outer coating starts to lift and chip, and as another...

Blasting cabinet - about to pull the trigger..

Cart and a box. Now that sounds like a plan. The HF carts get good reviews. RV-6s look cool. Kind of a side by side Mono wing Pitts. I want one of those as well oh yeah, and an air tractor. I don't even fly. Maybe some day. I'm kind of an aircraft window shopper. I can afford to window shop.

Blasting cabinet - about to pull the trigger..

Thank you for the clarification. Makes sense to me now. I love Mu2's. Such a bad *** looking plane. My dad wanted one but never pulled the trigger. He loved his Cherokee Six though. He always told me he was going to buy a Delorean. He never did. I think he just liked to mess with me.:lol_hitti...

Blasting cabinet - about to pull the trigger..

First off BellyUpFish, what am I looking at in your avatar? It's killing me. I just can't figure it out. Kind of looks like an airliner. Sorry about that. I have the Harbor Freight box. I got it for $100 off a buddy that just finished a restoration on a Chevelle. The thing still looks brand new...

Bluepoint AT325C 3/8" impact teardown and rebuild.

It's an IR model 223. I found it about 13 years ago, so it definitely isn't new, but looks to be in almost new condition.

What is the intended purpose of these SO sockets?

TJ, I hear ya. It looks like there is only one size in the catalog for shocks. Here is the full link. http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item.asp?P65=&tool=all&item_ID=636005&group_ID=675666&store=&dir=catalog So glad I found this thread. Now I need another tool that I never knew existed. Thanks OP...

Bluepoint AT325C 3/8" impact teardown and rebuild.

Thanks for the rebuild pics. I have an IR that is like new that I found in a dumpster. When I got it home I found out why it was in the dumpster. The trigger feels like there is no spring behind it and when you hook air up to it, it just runs free. Have you ever experienced this or know what a...

What is the intended purpose of these SO sockets?

Only place I have ever seen a use for this type of socket is at the top of a Triumph Spitfire front shock. I wish I could determine the size I needed and I would order one. Never even knew these existed. I use an adjustable wrench to remove the shocks, but that thing would sure be nice.
