Rust dissolver that won’t harm plastic

As severely rusted that those look to be, probably the wing nuts and threads are "rust welded" together

Cheapest way to do some topographic surveying? (elevations)

Look for an Abney level -- price ranges from $100 to $200. More expensive ones allow setting it for the desired grade. I used to locate logging roads using one. Max grade of 6% but short runs of 8% OK in some instances.

How Remove Old Sink From Basement Wall

Squirt some WD-40 or other lube along the top and hope it gets down to the fasteners. Maybe have Mom or Dad do that in the interim.

Dangit. Mice droppings all over the garage

I have a 3 layer defense: outside solar led spot lights aimed at the bottom sides of the doors, then glue boards inside at each corner of the door, then mouse traps bated with peanut butter. Added benefit: Glue boards catch a lot of bugs so have to be replaced periodically. Did "catch" a Gila...

" not perfectly level with the top of the block in all places" Masonry chisel and hammer will knock down the protruding parts. Then patching cement.

    Anyone Tear Down a House?

A house that old was probably built with old growth lumber (southern pine maybe given the location). If you take it down piece by piece, might be able to sell the dimensional lumber to make a few bucks on the deal. When I did some remodeling in a 1956 house, the studs were Doug fir with very...

Hot Water Heater Recirculating Pump Connection Back to Tank - Which Option?

As mentioned, connect to the drain. I have "remote control" for the pump via X-10 stuff. I know how long it takes to get hot water to the washing machine, kitchen, bathrooms and run the pump when needed. Wasteful to run the pump 24/7 or a set schedule (unless you follow the schedule...

    Hot water heater leak

We had a 40 gal and my wife and I took showers every work morning and had 2 teenage boys. Never ran out of hot water. Didn't try to run dishwasher or clothes washer at the same time. When we added a spool (pool/spa) with a heater, we had to have the gas company install a larger supply meter...

I have a bid to clean up my property

Check with your local fire dept. They might want a practice house fire. Would reduce the amount of debris to remove.

    Cyanoacrylate glue

Years back while in the checkout line, I noticed an Enquirer headline: "Intruder superglues screaming woman to toilet seat" Didn't buy it to see if it was true.

When your neighbors don't like your new garage....

At least in my location the CC&Rs were established by the developer, and they in effect create the HOA. The HOA becomes the "enforcer". That takes the load off the local government. The HOA can change the CC&R's but have to do that through a HOA member vote and the changes have to be...

Garage door safety keeps stopping the door for no reason

Had a similar problem. Occasionally the door wouldn't close, and the opener flashed the error code. I could tap the one sensor on the track, and it would close. Finally got tired of that and replaced the sensors. No problem after that for some a5 years..

    Seal Krete epoxy flooring

When I did the "steps" along 2 side of our garage using Rustoleum 2 part epoxy kit, I didn't like the etch that resulted from what was included in the kit. So I mixed up some muriatic acid solution and re-etched it so it was closer to 80 grit sandpaper. Washed a couple of times using a wet vac...

    Above 1200 Sq/FT Harley Jim's place

at least you had a better experience than me. I was scheduled for the colonoscopy at 9 am. Got into the gown and waited for the call. After a bit someone nearby started gagging (scope down the throat). Seems things were so bad that the doc had to take her to the hospital. Didn't get the...
