Winter Project - Father & Son 64 VW

Nice Mexican slider...I'd like to have one of those myself. My volksrod project will have a very similar roof. I already have two original ragtop clips that I'm going to graft together. Just gotta sell the vert first.

    New Welder recomendation's

You can't go wrong with any of the Miller, Lincoln or Hobarts. I'd say something in the 175-210 range will be fine. I have a Lincoln 255c. Miller & Hobart are both part of ITW and do share some components from what I've read. They are separate companies, just owned by the same conglomerate. ITW...

Winter Project - Father & Son 64 VW

Thanks. We're hoping to get back on it soon as the weather warms up and the funds become available. My son told me yesterday that he wants to do more on it so he will know what to do if he ever needs to fix something (which is kind of the whole point anyway :bounce:)

    The Baileigh Winter Project Contest

I checked out the website, ordered a catalog and got a nice box of goodies today. Thanks!! I did cut the sticker down to just the logo (like your avatar). Is there a reason you do not include a price list with the catalog? I work as a Manufacturing Specialist for a major global manufacturer...

Winter Project - Father & Son 64 VW

I haven't had time to do anything to the bug this week. My son sanded down the shocks, taped up the rubber grommets and painted them. There are almost new KYB GR2s but they had some paint drips and scratches and stuff on them. While we wait on some parts to finish the chassis and start the...

    When is it Trash?

I think we all have this problem. I generally go through the shop about once a year and force myself to throw out a few things. It's never enough and, like the rest of you, I end up needing it two weeks later. At work, we go by the 6-month rule (although it's really more of a 12-18 month rule)...

Winter Project - Father & Son 64 VW

Well, we didn't get anything done to it today. We planned a family day (I have three boys) so we went to the park for a while, got some lunch and then went shopping for a while, then stopped for ice cream before finally coming home. I had to take a nap (getting old ***** :bounce:). No, I've had...

Winter Project - Father & Son 64 VW

Nice buggy! I'll build another buggy eventually. I've got a volksrod project stuck in my head right now that I want to build next. I have to sell my vert first to have a little play money. I think that's why my projects take so long...I usually don't take "house money" to buy anything. It's a...

    Welding helmet

Yes, the gold lenses are far superior to the old green glass ones. I used one in my hood for years until I switched to an automatic lens. I had a lens called a Blue Diamond (I think, been many years ago) that was cool as well. I still have a gold lens in my regular hood actually, but I haven't...

    Microfiber towels

I can't really answer this but my wife owns a mobile auto detailing business and I have a friend that owns a very succesful mobile auto detailing business. Both use microfiber towels but I don't know what brands or exactly what they use them on. I know we get a lot of stuff from AutoMagic. They...

Winter Project - Father & Son 64 VW

I'm making a list of parts needed for the next phase so I'll get that ordered soon. It looks like I'm going to have to replace both heater channels, front firewall, front clip, both lower a-pillars, both rear wheelwells, both front wheelwells and both rear bumper support areas. I'm looking for a...
