    Show your "Mini" Tool Box.

I needed a tin travel case for my vintage razor recently, so I bought a tin of Altoids and dumped the mints into an empty Fisherman’s Friend bag. Should I feel guilty for doing that? (Side note: What the heck Fisherman’s Friend people!! A bag? Seriously? Sigh… They just don’t make nothing like...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

That’s actually a really good idea.

How on earth do you find the socket you want in that drawer?! Fairly makes my head spin! 😂 Very nice. 👍

Beautiful Allis you’ve got there! Dad still has his D14 and I would love to restore it one day, lots of memories with that tractor.

I imagine we’ll have this thread way past page 1960 in two weeks time 😂

    Show us your welding projects

Wow, that one’s new to me. Gonna have to file it away for later use. 😂

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Yeah it’s been good to me so far, I’ve only put a little over 100k kilometres on it myself, but it’s already at well over 700k so we’ll see. PO ran the first engine out of oil and put the current one in so it’s got about half the mileage the truck does though. Anyway, this afternoon I realized...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Been suspecting a boost leak on my ‘96 Ram for a while as it’s been a bit smoky, laggy, and had poor fuel economy, but all my boots and clamps were tight so I wasn’t sure. Then on Saturday I pulled it in the shop to mess with some wiring and figured I’d pressure test it finally since I had time...

What kind of tools have you found in the road??

Last week I found one of those kneeling mats in the ditch. And it’s in basically new condition! Score! I probably won’t use it much though, as I already have knee pads in the double front of my carhartt pants.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

All this talk of picnic tables reminds me of this one in a nearby small-town park: Not a great pic as I was trying not to get other people in the shot, but the frame is made of bent exhaust tubing.

Why isn't there a Plumbing thread?

At my work we use a lot of this polypropylene socket fusion pipe in our smaller boiler installs, it’s also potable water rated and I think it looks pretty good. Here’s an apartment complex boiler system we updated last year: And a small shop one of our subcontractors did:

That is a lot of copper! Looks great, is there another reason you didn’t go with poly?

    The repurposing thread

Classic farmer activity right there. 😂 And they well aware too, because their GPS shows exactly where their property line stops. From former employment experience though, getting property lines surveyed can strain relations between good friends even, be sure to communicate with him beforehand if...

    The repurposing thread

Which one do you have? I bought a Cell2Jack on Amazon recently and the audio quality is pretty bad.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Yeah we always use Wolverine Brass’ “The Beast” tape (it’s nice and thick) and Masters Metallic dope on all our stainless steam systems, rarely if ever do they leak. HOWEVER, you cannot use Masters Metallic on food/beverage systems as it has a rather high lead content. But yeah, tape will help...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Given the vast number of terrible stories of gasoline explosion burns I’ve heard, even on this site alone, let’s maybe not recommend that method… lol. Best way I’ve found if you have to use gas is pour a little in an empty tuna can or similar, set it under what you want to burn and light it...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Back when I was a kid, working on the ranch, there was a blind fellow who ran a grain vac repair business down the road on a neighbouring farm. I only went there a couple of times, to have replacement hydraulic hoses made, but I remember being impressed how he could tell exactly what size and...

It also means you can throw it like a stagehand, and watch it uncoil in the air, which is very satisfying 😂
