Ive had the crescents for a couple months now. Used them a few times for long reach in tight spaces to pick stuff up. They are awesome for that task and have decent grip and decent quality. Definately worth having around. I picked up mine at sears for 10 after some surprise points.

he one from HF is plenty good enough for lug nuts. Wouldnt use it on critical engine parts but perfect for wheels. If your worried about inaccuracies you can get the digital gauge and compare the two.

If your concerned about square cuts on your tubing a chop saw or horizontal band saw would be great. As far as the basics, with a welder and a grinder with grinding and cutting wheel, you can do ALOT of stuff.
