Snap on bent needle nose worse than channellock

I have a pair of Talon grip Snappys, the grippy nurled part at the tips rounded smooth after a few uses, other than that they're pretty good pliers. For the price though I don't think I'd buy them again . I don't really like Channel lock, but I've also never used any of their stuff besides...

    PSA- Wedding ring safety

Yeah exactly. Plus you don't want someone getting hurt because they thought they had the silicon one on, or forgot they switched back to their gold ring over the weekend.

    PSA- Wedding ring safety

We're not even allowed to wear the silicon ones at work.

Material cost - what are you seeing on electrical?

Seems like the industrial side hasn't changed a whole lot for us, maybe a slight price increase on some things. Now anything remotely related to residential or commercial is a different story, as mentioned crazy price increases if you can even get what you're looking for. I bought an Eaton...

    Storing ice melt cables

Really? We have heat trace that's been in service for 20 years, it's Raychem stuff though, may be a difference between hardware store stuff and that I suppose...

    Storing ice melt cables

Oh I get it, Colorado is similar in the spring and fall; 75° in the day and 20° at night, then we'll get 8" of snow in May and it will be 85 the next day. Could you pull it up through the opening where your hinge is and just coil it up against the wall so you can't really see it?

    Storing ice melt cables

I almost asked why you need heat trace in Arkansas .....nvm need more coffee.

    Porter Cable dead brand?

I have a porter cable corded DA sander/buffer that's great. Other than that all my cordless stuff is red, so I personally cant speak to Porter cable's quality. My dad bought some of their cordless stuff a few years back and said it was garbage.

    McMaster Carr.... shipping?

Mcmaster is hands down my favorite supplier to deal with. Customer service is top notch, and I've never gotten something that wasn't high quality. Their shipping can be kind of odd sometimes and changes depending on where you ship to the most. For example I was shipping a lot of parts to my...

    Office shed

+1 for checking local codes and permit requirements. Not totally the same situation but similar, We use office sheds at a lot of our small on-site gas plants. Usually made by Tuff shed since they're easy, quick and relatively cheap compared to container offices. With house wrap, insulation...

Issues with a diesel "torpedo" heater

I had the same problem with a few older Mr heater torpedos, I think they were the 50000 btu ones; all of the fuel lines were split. I replaced the fuel lines and then had problems with keeping the thing running right. I ended up having to play with the fuel adjustment screw on the back. I'd...

    Favorite 1/4" ratchet.

I never liked roto ratchets, I think every time I've used one I pinched the **** out of some part of my hand. Other than that, I have a Proto 4749XL that I like a LOT. I also have a Snap-on T936 that I don't really like at all. Lately I've been using a GW 120xp flex head, works great but...

    Multimatic Footpedal Upgrade

I had no idea that was even a thing, My multimatic 220 has a nice pedal, cord and 14 pin. I guess I assumed they would be the same. I don't think it would be that hard to convert to some kind of mil-spec-like connector and cord set if someone really wanted to.

What is special about Craftsman Rally tool box?

To me the only thing special is that the Rally box was my first tool box when I was a kid. Other than that, they're heavy, drawer slides are cheapish and you really can't fit much in the thing. That said I still have mine and still have stuff in it.

    Let's talk fire safety

These are super nice if you don't have a hose/water near by. Put out a few forklift fires and dock leveler fires at the box factory I used to work at, way nicer than having to clean up fire extinguisher dust. Just make sure you keep some antifreeze in them or store somewhere they won't...

    Motor 4 1940s lathe

Post up some pics of the motor. If it has regular ball bearings I'd just pull the motor apart and replace them. If it has oilers/oil holes, then it's a bushing/plain bearing motor which might make rebuilding a little more involved.

    Let's talk fire safety

I'm no firefighter(maybe you are:dunno:), but saying that stuff is a drop in the bucket makes no sense to me. Anyway, The guy saw the building get hit, went in the building, saw a fire too big to handle with a fire extinguisher and called 911. FD got there pretty quick but it was already...

Caliper vs. Micrometer For Auto Work?

I've had the same dial in my service truck for a long time, never been a problem for me, I just keep my tools clean. Maybe I've just been lucky haha, To each their own I guess :dunno:

Caliper vs. Micrometer For Auto Work?

Personally I like a good old Dial or vernier caliper, no batteries to die when I need the thing and pretty much impossible to kill. If I need metric just divide by 25.4
