The Vintage New Britain and Associated Thread!

A pic isn't coming up on the listing but my guess is that your flex head looks like the bottom standard ratchet with the integral knurled spinner on the selector side - that's not a Kilness but a newer Stanley design that can be found in both QR and non-QR (at least I have/have seen a few of...

    The Ratchet Collection Thread

Oh man, even though I don't include 3/4" rats as part of the ratchet obsess.... er, collection, that Proto-lite is one I REALLY hope to stumble on someday in the wild at a reasonable (as in cheap @ss) price. It's P&C cousin would fill the bill nicely too. Nice one there!

    Show Your Vintage Utica Tools!

They're def the 1968 Rozmus patent (3372612 filed for in 1966) assigned to Kelsey-Hayes. Have several different brands - Bonney, Bon-e-con, Dayton, Herbrand, John Deere, Chrysler (awards ratchets). Have triple plays of Bonney's with both selectors, Daytons and Herbrands I have so far are...

The Mysterious FILSON Tools...mystery now solved (at least, in part)!

Yep, gotta say I really enjoy reading thru these defunct/little known brand threads, especially when ratchets are involved. Got a few wrenches of varying ages amd maybe a socket or two as well, but they're buried in boxes somewhere. A surprisingly early triple play completion in the history of...

    Fairmount Tools

Fairmount ratchets, 4 different sources - New Britain, Wright, Thorsen, & Proto/Pendleton. No triple plays (yet...).

    Show Your Vintage Utica Tools!

Recently completed a triple play of Utica ratchets - torque wrenches are pretty common, but standard ratchets appear not so. Have had the 1/2" for years - took a little to determine it's a Utica with the grinder marks obliterating most of the brand - and the hunt will continue for a rep in...

    Penens vs Fleet vs Challanger

Interesting Lugz, since I only (mostly) pay attention to ratchets I wasn't sure if the second (parent) brand appeared on the other ratchet set components or not. On another note after looking at the Challenger cat cover, I've only noticed the "helmet head" logo on wrenches, have yet to see a...

    Penens vs Fleet vs Challanger

My thoughts fall pretty much in line with ya'lls on diff brands to diff markets such as large chain auto parts/industrial suppliers vs mom 'n pop/unaligned parts/hardware stores etc. My guess is Proto as the top tier pro/industrial brand, with P&C supplying the smaller/lesser non-aligned pro...

Mystery Craftsman H in Circle Ratchet

As usual way late to the party, but yes I do still have mine, although REALLY questioning my sanity now in keeping it with the prices they're hitting.... I fished mine out of the classified section here 12 years ago, looooong before the prices they're bringing now. Bought it because it fit...

Wilde Tool & Forge Co., Hiawatha, Kansas

As far as ratchets, Wilde's had at least a couple different suppliers - I've got 1/4" & 3/8" versions in the classic MDF/Easco/Danaher RHFT design, and a 1/2" in the questlonable pedigree round head with the thick bar reverse switch (my personal guess is that it's a Stanley-sourced ratchet).

Interesting ratchet internals in my old Walden bullet handle

There are at least a couple of sliding pawl designs out there, Walden's seems to be a more delicate version - have a 1/2" flex head with a broken cage - but also generally smoother and much easier to clean up.

    Bonney Ratchet

Yep, only diff is the bar vs tri-wing pattern.

Complete set of the RHFT long handles

And last one for tonight, one that should've been made but never was - a home brew that appears to have started out as a polished NAPA 1/4" QR (which I don't have an unmolested version of). 3/8" factory model would've been really nice too.

Complete set of the RHFT long handles

NAPA 1/4 RP QR, and K-D recycled the same # when going from RP QR to smooth/satin QR (only ones I have are 1/2").

Complete set of the RHFT long handles

Complete set of the RHFT long handles

Should've taken these earlier, latest triple play score referred to earlier as the NAPA smooth beam satin finish.

    More USA from Tekton

Would either of you mind forwarding or posting or PM'ing at least the link to the flarenut crowfoots? Can only find the regular crowfoots on the website. SAE flare-crows are one set I've not picked up yet so they might be a consideration for future acquisition. Curious how they might compare...

    More USA from Tekton

So I just got my first Tekton order after reading comments here, just a few things and not all USA, but quite pleased with initial inspection. Hammer and picks are USA while the folding stubby ratchet and mini-pliers are Taiwan.

Complete set of the RHFT long handles

Would you mind occasionally posting an updated list? Also, think you have the Allen 1/4 & 3/8 in the wrong column, at least my 3/8" QR is 11904 as is Draft's. Never seen a non-QR Allen - only non-QRs I have/seen are from Easco, Master Mechanic, and NAPA - but there's always a first.
