    Challenger Lift + race ramps

I had the lite-weight race ramps on my BendPak 4-post. I always placed them onto the lift, put the car on or off the lift and removed the ramps and hung them on the wall. I never had a problem.

    Question about mini splits?

I bought a mini-split from Home Depot for my 3+ car garage during our garage remodel. We ran the lines inside the wall and had the compressor outside. It was a very clean install like one sees in a typical residential install. Worked great for heating and cooling. Quiet too.

Question on paint sheen levels for ceiling and walls, and seeking advice on painting 12’ ceilings

I would put 2 coats of primer on and then roll it with 2 coats of an egg-shell finish paint. I used a rolling scaffolding I bought from Home Depot for about $120 dollars on sale and it worked great and saved me climbing up and down a ladder all day long.

An Affordable Large Fan Option for Garage/Shop

We are installing a "whole house fan" in the garage when we build it. Permits in process. We have one in the house and it evacuates the hot air and pulls in the cool air very nicely.

Braced my two post lift on the garage column

Not worth the risk-seriously. We are in the permit approval process for a 1550 sq. ft. garage and we will be installing a 2-post lift. We are spec'd the concrete to be 4,000 PSI and 6" thick for the entire floor. Not looking for any cracks or issues.

Looking for Experience with the Husky Professional Duty 72" Tool Chest

Looks like a good box. I have the 72" Harbor Freight I bought 6 months ago, their new model. I love it. Cost me $1,400 OTD after some hard negotiating. Had to wait for them to order it in- took about 2 weeks. Regular price was $1,900 plus tax.

    In-floor Scissor Lift Install

I had a mid-rise scissor lift from BendPak- excellent lift. Mine was sunk into the floor and we porcelain tiled the floor and sides of the pits. If you want to wash the underside of a car, I would buy some plastic tarps and try to close off the lift and pits from as much water intrusion as...

Residential Lift Options for Service and Storage 10' Ceiling

If you really want to store a vehicle, I think a 4-post is the way to go. I have had 2 different lifts and BendPak has always been terrific in my experience. I had a 4-post when my toy was awaiting restoration and it needed to be stored. I parked my DD under that with no issues and I had a...

    Polished Concrete

That's a lot $10 sq.ft. Maybe I will just have our floor power trowel finished? Still in the permit process so likely at least 1 year out from pour.

How would I break this stone mantle?

I really like JRC3's suggestion. Looks very nice and gives you a bit more space on the mantel.

Ideas for battery powered yard tools wall storage

I bought the top of the line Echo blower for our yard. Turned it on and turned it off and returned it. My wife's hairdryer blew better. I now have an Echo gas blower, their highest rated blower, that thing is AWESOME. I love it- but be warned, ear protection is a must. To store it and my...

TRUSSES TOO SHORT NOT TO PLAN -- California

The house will have all 2x6 framing; our main home is exposed rafters so we will see what happens when we build the ADU. I personally like the exposed rafters.

    Roll-Off Truck on Driveway

No way I would put that load on a new driveway. Everyone says their pour is 4" but if you have ever taken out a garage floor or driveway where someone said 4" you will find out it may be 4: in spots and 2.5" on others.

Unscrewed the "DO NOT ADJUST" port from HF Jack (2 tons) - help!

As cheap as those jacks are, toss it and buy another. Why gamble with your or some else's safety?

Building 40x40 2 door garage, lift placement?

We are in the permit approval process for a 4-car, approx. 42x36. We will have hi-lift jack-shaft openers and will place the lift so if the doors are open we will still have full light over the car on the lift. We will likely go with LED 2x2 flat panels that illuminate very well and are only...

    How hard is tile?

I would go with the tile. Easy to roll your chair around and keep clean. I had porcelain tile in my last garage and that stuff took a beating with no issues at all. The caveat being it must be installed correctly. Each tile needed to be fully back buttered before placing it on the floor that...

TRUSSES TOO SHORT NOT TO PLAN -- California

Personally, I think long tails look very nice. We are in the plan submittal process for a 1200 sq. ft. ADU and we are going with 36" rafter tails and storage trusses. Long tails look nice and creates a bit of a sun shade.

    Help with Oak tree

I think I will spray the inside of the cavity with carpenter ant killer to be safe. Then just cut a flat piece of aluminum and bend it over the edges to cap the hole after spraying the aluminum satin black. It is a big, pretty tree. So if I can keep it alive and well for another decade, great.

    Replacing LiftMaster with Chamberlain

I have had jackshaft openers on my last 2 homes and love them. Quite, gets the ceiling nice and clean and they have the security bolt when closed.
