    Help with Oak tree

We have many Oaks on our property and some had some dead or damaged branches we had to prune off. The former property owner did nothing to the trees for 25 years and the only pruning they got was from the wind. The result on one branch we pruned off is large hole down that particular branch...

    Finally, decent internet with Starlink

Thinking of all of the things our government wastes money on, on a daily basis, making sure rural areas have Internet is not even close to being on the list.

    Finally, decent internet with Starlink

Frustrating I know. I have been on the list for about 6 months now but have faith I will get it one of these months. There is no better solution for where I live. I have Sudden LInk which now changed its name to Optimum or something like that. Their service is the worst! Customer service...

    Tiles of Epoxy

If you go with a Race Deck type of tile, I would suggest going to see and walk on an actual garage floor with it installed before you make that decision.

Current owners and those who have used either: Bendpak XPR-9S vs Atlas BP8000

I am a BenPak guy- had 2 so far and will hopefully be getting my 3rd in the next year- as soon as the garage is built. I would call BendPak and explain your issue and see if they can do anything to close that price gap to keep you as a customer. I have always found them great to work with.

    Polished concrete maintenance

OK, good to know. Snow will not be an issue as at most we get 1-2" of snow occasionally during the winter. Typically gone within 24 hours. I always thought polished concrete was the easiest to maintain. This is not going to be hard-core welding, cutting, etc. shop. More of a car...

Does a structure gave to be placed exactly where it says on the plans?

I would not chance that. I would request the change and explain the reason and identify the required setback.

    Polished concrete maintenance

Watching this thread. We are going to have a polished concrete floor poured in our garage, 1550 sq. ft. I believe that will be the easiest to maintain.

What 2-post lift can be used for rear-engined and front-engined cars?

So, not to hijack the thread, but who is making a really solid, hi-quality, 2-post asymmetrical lift for home use?

Moving Compressor Outside - Need Input

If your compressor does not have rubber feet pads, add them to reduce noise and vibration. I had my compressor in my last home outside, next to the garage, in a rubber-made shed. I plumbed a water trap and ran the line into the garage wall and up into the ceiling to a hose reel and then let...

    4 post car lift

I had a 4-post I installed in a home about 12 years ago. I shopped them all and settled on BendPak. The lift was perfect and never gave me a problem. Sold that home and installed a BendPak scissor lift in my next garage, again perfect lift with no issues. Now, in another home, we are...

    Decent cheap toolbox

I just bought a 72" US General toolbox for about $1,400 OTD. Regularly $1,599 plus tax. I had to "work" the Harbor Freight store manager for about 30 minutes to get to that deal. Got it in green. It is a nicely constructed box. I had one in my other garage, before I remodeled and did a...

Finally did it... Got a US General 44" Roller, but...

I just bought the 72" US General yesterday in green. I was able to negotiate a $300 discount with the manager. I will pick it up in about 2 weeks when it arrives. I had another US General, before I remodeled my last garage and it was a great, solid box. No issues whatsoever. I gave that to...

    Mop and bucket suggestions?

I have that exact mop bucket and love it. I also bought 2 mop heads and put them together on one mop handle and that works perfectly. 1 mop head is just too light and does not clean. Putting 2 together works great.

Windows with Mutins (Grids) or Not?

Funny, in September we bought a "new" home, built in '99 with grids on the entire front of the home. We ordered all new glass for the front of the home and hopefully by the end of the week they will be installed. We do not like the grids as they break up the views out our front windows.

    Concrete Steps Skim Coating

That's a small area, better off to break out and re-pour them. This time, do not pay the contractor his final installment until you are satisfied with the work.

Finalizing build of garage, suggestions on window placement and general layout?

If you are in a dense residential area, security would be a concern. Windows in the garage door- obscure or frosted glass. I would also recommend high-lift door set-up with Chamberlain jackshaft openers with the locking bolt when the doors shut. If you already have a cabinet layout, let...

Starting the garage plan, what should I include?

I would not have garage without a sink.

Green location gets my vote. Easy access with minimal changes to the lot footprint.

Will concrete trucks destroy asphalt driveway?

I have never let a concrete truck or gravel truck drive onto my driveways. Regardless of the construction of the driveway, what take the chance they will crack it or leave deep depressions from their weight. The last pour we did they ran 150' of hose to pump it to our pour location. Worked...
