    Help with grinder rebuild

Most definetly heat the grinder housing, and yes put the bearings in the freezer, then work quickly but carefully, do not force things.

    Basic machining books.

Audels, or any of the school trades books, there seem to be a number of them in used book stores. Any of Tubal Cains videos on here are pretty nice.

Older gaspowered geneartor 24 volt Dc what was it used for?

That looks like an old homelight i had for awhile but it was 120 volt. Engine was done , it was 2 cycle and took a hellish smokey oil mix, still have the tag in my box, haven't looked at it for awhile, but think it took a pint of oil to one gallon of gas. That engine and generator is identical...

Sheldon made very good lathes according to many on machinist forums. They are quite collectible, not sure if they have any shortcommings though.

Need help with buying a lathe

Diesel Crawler has posted an excellent site for you, this Tubal Cain has LOTS of videos to watch, a former shop teacher, you can learn a lot from them, from Basics on up. Very good info there.

Need help with buying a lathe

One of the best pieces of advice has already been posted. Find someone with experience that has used a lathe for some time, and take him with you. Check bedways for wear along with the cross slide, headstock bearings, (don't go with babbitt,) They cannot run at higher speeds for turning small...

    Arbor Press Mod Advice ??.......

Re: Return spring: Don't have a pic, but a number of old drill presses used a counterweight, hooked to a 1/8th cable that traveled on a pulley at the rear up to the front rotating shaft. So, you pull the handle down, this winds the cable around the rotating shaft a couple of times, and when...

    Cracked Chisel

It appears to be just a stress crack, i wouldn't try to fix it, but as posted keep it as a momento of grandad. To regrind that nice chisel into something else is going to ruin it.

Metal bin drawers, restoration or scrap?

I'd DEFINETLY keep them. AS you say, just sandblast a few at a time, wouldn't take that long to do. then paint them assemble and you have a set a lot of guys are searching for. You can't beat those metal cabinets for storage , lasts for generations if taken care of. (Better than buying the...

    Recommend a Small/Medium Belt/Disk Sander w/vac. Connection

How about a pic of the "Great but Huge dinosaur" ? The pic you posted, those are sold everywere, just different labels. I'd be very untrusting of those chinese motors on those things. If you do buy one, how about just making a dust chute with a vacumn hose attachment on the end?

    Something ain't right here.

Those ads and markings on this stuff are the BIGGEST FRAUD going!! What a bunch of ****, designed for people who think they're getting this HUGE powerfull motor. People never read the ampreage draw, see this a lot now especially on bench grinders etc. Label states 3/4HP, but check the amps, and...
