    Sweet collections everyone!! Have boxes of Amerian made drills, but have never found an index other than Huots boxes.( I still buy them even if empty.) You all have posted some great indexes here!!

    China can make GOOD tools, it is the importers here that want them as cheap as possible, hence they then sell cheaper stuff. Be interesting to ask chinese craftsman what they buy for good name brand tools there.

    You did very well for $500.00. That milling attachment used, alone sells for around $250.00 Those lathes really hold their value, you'll always get your'e money back if you decide later on to upgrade to a larger one.

    I Believe Beach is gone from Smith falls. They made great tough boxes of all sizes. Too bad a great old Canadian company bought out awhile back by Stanley who pretty much ruined the great reputation Beach had built up over the years.

    Tools from Taiwan

    Gotta agree, the taiwan tools are just as good as N. American made. (They never used to be, but they cleaned up their act, and now have just as good a product at 1/2 the price.) The average guy trying to raise a family and keep up with alll other expenses just cannot start paying N American prices.

    No way i would want to be washing parts in a cold canadian shop. Wouldn't you rather have heat on to work in there?

    A Rohm chuck works great for me on my one press and not expensive either, smooth and accurate.

    help me identify a lathe I'm checking out in a couple hours

    X2 on bypassing that lathe. Only reason i could see to purchase it for 25- 30 bucks is to part it out, make a bit to go towards a better bigger one.
