First, in myopinion, that 618 isn't too bad a deal, but it is missing a few of the original handles like the lock down for the quill in the tailstock. The cross slide handle is aslo missing, subsituted with a home built one. The rear drive stand , there should be a black knob lever to tighten...

What you really need is a BIGGER drill press,, or,, a SMALLER motor. Your'e going to end up with a broken drill press with that motor hanging off there.

That space and small machines clearly demonstrate that even if one was forced to move into an apartment, a spare bedroom could be nicely set up as a workshop to produce small items. The machines and tooling are small enough that they could be "smuggled" in in a box without the landlord, or...

If the build date is 1981 it is a taiwan drill press. They had those labeled with all sorts of names, probably what the importer asked for. A great number of the taiwan drill presses are still around working fine. Not a bad press, if it checks out as acurate and not beat up.

Bisley is correct, ok for wood and drilling holes in large wooden circles etc, but not good for drilling metal.

Just wondering if by chance your'e husband is a veteran????? I mention that because here in Ontario, a veteran can hire his snowplowing done , and it is paid for by the government. Try checking into something in that area.

I believe the "Tool post grinder" is a Mica undercutter for armatures is it not? The value of that lathe and tooling flucuates like crazy depending on your'e location. In some areas it would sell for maybe $600.00,, but in other areas they would sell easily for twice that or more depending on...
