tube bender dies/ help me choose

My 2" is a 6.5 radius die. Larger is better as it doesn't stretch the material outside of the bend as dramatically or compress the material on the inside if the bend as much either.. But don't go too big on radius. I could have got a 7" die but that seemed a little big. You want nice radiused...

    Flame Straightening 101: The Basics

Although I have never tried the concept I though of, I have always wanted to try it. I just forget to do it at the moment I'm welding something up. I assume you can, for lack of a better term "Down flex" the flat plate with a narrow shim under the center thats say about 1/8 thick and equal...

    Powdercoating a vise?

After...Has a removable center lid support bar. The M channel underneath the lids make it hella strong for just sheet metal. I have stood in the lids without issue. When the lids are closed they make contact on all four sides of the lids. Center removable support bar supports the inboard lid...

    Powdercoating a vise?

I had my 8' parts washer I built a few years ago powder coated. It's held up exceptionally well to the industrial grade solvent I use in it. I built this spicifically for cleaning axles so I don't have to ruin my driveway with degreaser and all the gunk and grease that comes off and out of an...

Bending plate steel to odd angles

In the first few pictures yes, but that diamond fish plate is 8" tall X 1/4 thick to match the 8" x 2" steel rectangle tube I built the bumper out of. Only thing I did different from the pictured bending was add cheater bars on my cressents. And not 6' but maybe 2' extra for leverage. Been...

    Powdercoating a vise?

You're suposed to hit the part in the vise, not the vise lol. A vise should not take a beating if you use it right. In fact no tool should if used right. Powder coating it hard to chip. It will mar and can be chipped of course, mostly on sharp edges but will hold up far better then paint for...

Bending plate steel to odd angles

You do not need a press break to bend this. Do it on a heavy and stationary work bench. Clamp it down tight with the bent line at the edge of the table facing down. Get two of the largest tapered handle cressent wrenches from Harbor Freight. Tapered handles are best for adding a piece of pipe...

looking for some suggestions for nice c-clamps

All these. But large C clamps are expensive. Buy at car show swap meets, you'll get your best deals there. I have two HUGE Wilton forged C clamps that run nearly $500 each new. Paid $195 each in like new condition. Jack screw is 1 1/4 diameter.
