I’ll look at the jaws once it’s clean. But here is my first Sargent clue. This is the side of the swivel lock handle. Peter, too

Sargent? I hadn’t heard of them, until now. Thank you - I guess- though my collectable just turned into a knock off. I don’t see a stamp, but nothing has been cleaned, yet. Sargent made a lot of tools. I’m more than little surprised to have never heard of them. Peterx2

The number corresponds to the number system in this 1912 Catalog - and the jaws are actually 3 5/8”

It says 22 on it, and has 3.5” jaws. But, there isn’t a Parker to be found on the whole vise. Besides the 74 and the 63 on the base, and 11.22.14 on the screw retainer, there are no other marks (as far as I can see) . The under bench handle is definitely an original part. But unlike the OG...

Hey guys. Got another new one. Parker 21. Haven’t seen another with a blank side, and this style lock handle. Do you think this is a later or earlier style? Is the mounting missing anything? TIA. Peter

Hoping for some input here. This Parker 439 has had a tough life working in a water department its whole career. Amongst its injuries is a mystery. The mobile jaw seems to not have ever had a removable pad. Check it out. I see no sign. Amongst its injuries is a wounded tail (Who uses the...

Love them Speedvise. I have a 6” bolted to a 12” square steel plate on the production table of a Delta 17” . Easy to set, easy to release. Bought and sold a couple 4” that came free with different drill presses. Pretty much paid for them. Peterx2

I saw it less than an hour after posting. Seems the seller realized his mistake, and took the ad down.

Well, this certainly got my attention, and many others, I bet. The ad was taken down soon after I saw it.

Thank you, four.cycle. All excellent resources. I hadn’t heard of those lists. I had, of course, done lots of searches here, and not stumbled on too many personal experiences with this vise. It is a rare one!

The Unofficial Vise Parts Swap Thread.

In search of a collar for a Parker with 3.5” jaws. It’s a 439, but I hope other Parker vises used the same part. TIA Peter

Thanks for the heads up. Those collars can be pretty pricey, But it might also be a good bargaining point. If the dynamic is welded, that would just be deal breaker. He first posted @ 125, and then changed, so seems he isn’t set on anything. peterpeter

Going to check out this Parker 449 He wants more than I am happy paying. Not much online about these big fellas. If it were a 474, that would be an easy decision. Anything anyone can tell me what to look for (weak points, etc.) thnx. Peterx2

Glad it worked out, even if my tip only resulted in 25% success. I heated and treat the last bolt today, and it took a few more tries, but it’s out. I replaced mine with Allen bolts, though don’t have any anti-lock. Have to look that up.

No, you’re the first to answer, and thank you for the info. I love these vises. So easy to use, never lose the handle, great for so many applications. And of course, bulletproof, though It appears that older one might have been in a gun fight. I have bought and sold a couple 4” that came with...

I’ve taken apart a few vise, but today was a new day, and I found a ‘new’ way to remove those pesky bolts that hold on the jaw pads. That a Phillips head from an impact driver set. The vise applies the downward force, and so you need to open the jaws as the bolt comes out. So far three are...
