@Strouty How are you doing? Anything to share with the group? Hopefully you're doing okay! On the South Dakota side of things, we finally got a tiny, and I do mean tiny amount of snow yesterday, made the ground white and then most of it blew away. We're supposed to be getting measurable snow...

I run the keypads on my garage, sheds and shop building. Putting in the lithium batteries rated for cold weather helps immensely. I also have spare keys available as well just in case i'm locked out. I have had issues when we've had a rain/ice storm with water getting inside the lock and...

Strouty, are you getting professional help on this or something else? Any insightful tips to share? (without sharing personal details, etc) The mind is a powerful thing, and can be our own worst enemy....the struggle is real. I'm hoping for the best for you.

Here in SD it was -1F this morning and now warmed up to a balmy 20F. Safe travels on your journey!

Merry Christmas Strouty and to everyone else too! Hopefully you have a chance to relax and recharge... with or without family!

How's the oil tank and cleanup efforts going? Plus any forklift shenanigans? Here in eastern South Dakota we had some fluffy snow, then 30+mph wind, then more snow and now down to a balmy 10F. Fortunately with it that cold, the ground is frozen, the snow is fairly "dry" and it's easy to clear...

You've got so much scrap steel, just hang some steel off the back of it, or stack on top. Are you trying to lift insanely heavy stuff with it, or could the reduced capacity be good enough for a while? Having it drivable would be worth it right away.

I think this might be the way to go. Are you thinking that with setting up the 4 batteries in the tray with concrete, that they'd stay there all the time? No need to be portable with the batteries? I have a small straddle material lifter fork in the garage... it's 12v and I just use an old...

That's a nice looking cart! Too bad they didn't drill some drain holes in those upright tubes or had capped them. I'm sure it's warmer there.... here in SD, we've had 0F in the morning, warming to 14F. One benefit of that is that the ground is frozen, and snow (which so far is minimal) stays...

While you probably would have liked to have used the winch, having it done and ready made sure there was a plan B. If you hadn't had it ready, the way things go, you'd be using a come-along to get that forklift on the trailer! Plans for this forklift?

It's not the money, nor the time. The important thing is that Strouty got done what HE wanted on this, and the scrap is gone. He got some gas money, and parts for a different project. The mental load reduction is also good, now that big bucket isn't sitting there, reminding him there's work...

Strouty, Great to see some knuckleboom content! Storing that crane on the firetruck makes good sense, and adds a bit of weight for additional traction when you need to drive it in the yard. Where is the knuckleboom that you plan to put on it permanently? Good progress!

Strouty, Thanks for posting the link to those unique wrenches. Their videos do a good job of explaining how they work. Seems like mostly focused towards the military. I was curious on the cost... sold through Snap-on, they start at $915 for the 1/2" version.

I agree with what FullRaceMerc is saying here.. and I might go a step further and say that it might be time to have your lawyer review it as well. They do seem like they're trying to slip one by you to be used against you at a future date. A good contract lawyer should be able to review and...

Can you use a jumper cable to add a quick ground and see if that makes a difference? Recently on my old bobcat, it had worked just fine one day, and then the next day I went to use it over lunch break, and it acted like a dead battery or bad solenoid. After charging the battery and no...

yeah, a telehandler would likely be a very good fit for much of the stuff you do. I've run a Skytrac for some various applications with work, and they are a good all-around tool for lifting & moving stuff. The crab walk feature, opposite steering, and rear steer only, all switchable from the...

Hi Strouty, Great to have you back and posting pics of forklifts! What's the plan for the orange forklift? Seems like maybe scrap? What is left that you need to remove from it before it can go to scrap? Good luck with your plan for the day, hopefully it goes well for you!

86, Just to be clear, the 2hp air-compressor motor is the one that's tripping fuses, and is slow to spin up? It may be worth changing the capacitor(s) on that motor. I'd do some testing with the motor before going to a VFD.

While forced organization/cleaning isn't fun, it's also a really good way to actually buckle down and get some necessary work done. Otherwise it's too easy to procrastinate and push it out to another day. In an emergency, like flooding, or in this case, mice, it's amazing how much work a guy...
