I'm glad you're making some progress! On the BFF, how critical is the main lift cylinder be next on the list? Does it work, but leaks (slightly?). Could it used as-is and used to help with work at the Hill for cleanup, and then worked on later when you're not under the gun? I can't remember...

Your dad sure seems to know how to pile on when a guy is down, that *****. I think the faster you can make an exit, the better. Moving out some of the big stuff that is outside may be enough to get him to settle down a bit, but don't forget. Realistically, how much could you get moved out/sold...

Sorry to hear about Chuck. My cat of 20+ years recently passed away....he was my office buddy for boring online work meetings. It's weird working without him. I would imagine you'll have a similar feeling in the days/weeks to come.

Honestly, with a press of this style, you'd probably be better off flipping it, and then using that money to buy a press that really fits your needs. The best use is going to be doing something similar to what it was originally used for.... ie, bearings into housings, bearings out of housings...

What parts of it are usable? Curious to hear more about it.

When you said 200 ton press.... this is more what I was thinking of!!! https://www.almamachinery.com/machine/used-200-ton-verson-3299/?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiArfauBhApEiwAeoB7qFS64DWF0f73OSCPzO_j6DLijg5SqtTIJBoYvkvfSBJkUtkJdq_dLhoCS60QAvD_BwE

For those prices on the press and the sandblaster, I can see why you bought them! If you decide they aren't a fit for your needs, you'll probably make your money and then some back when you sell. Carry on!! I really pictured the press as being much physically larger than that when you said 200...

If you're going to do any fixing on the 3500, what's the minimum you can get by with? Glow plugs and crossover pipe seem needed. I wouldn't put any time and effort into bodywork of any sort. Those are such a common truck, it's disposable!

It seems like you have a workable solution with the pump and totes. I'm assuming the pump pickup has something that keeps it off the bottom of the tote so it doesn't pick up the sludge and ****. Since you don't pump oil very often, no sense in re-inventing the wheel. Run with what you have and...

From what you've earlier talked about with your son, I think you made the right move in helping him get it out properly without making more of a mess. Is there something he can do for you as "payment"? IE, sweep the floor in the shop, or shovel some snow around the place, or something else that...

I'd take it as a win and be grateful! You didn't have to go outside and break anything, and you saved the time. Quite frankly, it sounds like he has the ideal equipment, and he probably enjoys using it to clear snow, and so it was just extra fun for him. Thank him next time you see him, and...

That's a good score on the snow "THROWER". It is not a blower, as it doesn't have the 2nd stage blower. It's not going to blow the snow nearly as far, but if you have the engine rev'd up good, it will probably do a decent job, particularly if the snow is light and fluffy. Pretty awesome it is...

Do you have to shuffle stuff now with the ground being thawed? Can you wait until early morning, and do that when the ground is frozen? Even a skim layer of frozen would prevent making a large mess.

As others have said, do what makes the most sense for you. Seems like that would be a combo of shop cleaning, and working on the boiler. On the boiler, I know you want to rip up and move everything, but since it is winter, does it make more sense to just rebuild the burner and run it so you...

That Kool Mist is a cutting fluid for CNC milling/turning operations. As you can see on the jug, only 4 oz of it per gallon of water. You have several lifetimes worth of that. I'd recommend stopping by a machine shop and see if you can off load it to them at a discount from new price. You'll...

Uff, that ***** with those rules on a new vehicle from out of state. Here in South Dakota, they issue a seller's permit and temporary tags good for 45 days. It's pretty common to see vehicles driving around with the paper tag taped inside the rear window. Hopefully the mast comes off easy so...

What's the hurry to register the new truck at town hall? Don't you have 45 days to do that? Which forklift will go for scrap? That should be a decent amount of weight!

Perhaps a piece of chain and a hydraulic bottle jack could be a quick fix for it to be good enough? Good pics of the dirt/wood work... can we see a far away pic to better see the scope of your work?
