Are you absolutely sure the floats are good? Puddling of fuel is a prime indicator of a float/needle/seat issue.

Pay close attention to the float level setting. Set correctly, and things work well. If it gets tweaked and off, it's a huge headache..... flooding the carb or starving of fuel, only fix is pulling the carb back off to access the bowl to set. I think you'll be in a good position with the carb...
