Amprobe multimeter bit the dust what to replace it with?

Doesn't smell fishy, and there doesn't seem to be any obvious burnt spots. There's a little weirdness around the flashlight button on the board, in the form of some very small, hazy white staining. But I never use the flashlight button, and it doesn't seem like that would cause these kinds of...

Amprobe multimeter bit the dust what to replace it with?

That's what it used to have, and it did work fine before that died. Then again it also worked fine for a few years on the rechargeable. But I guess it's possible the rechargeable has degraded some in 3 years time and can't power it well enough anymore. I'll give it a shot!

Amprobe multimeter bit the dust what to replace it with?

Hi all, about 8 years ago I bought an Amprobe AM-510 on the recommendation of this board. IIRC it was because it was a good value being a fluke subsidiary, and containing a lot of fluke parts. But now when you turn the dial, it makes a high pitched electrical squealing, and some electrical...

Which soldering station - there's a million of em

Yeah I never understood how the solder just seems to jump onto the component with the paste. Like there was a suction pulling it there. And then it boils away and the part is resoldered. Looks like magic.

Which soldering station - there's a million of em

How important is that though? For very fine wire I assume it's important, but for automotive use, just crank her up another notch to adjust for the difference.

Which soldering station - there's a million of em

I think the wattage is less relevant that the heat setting you have it set to... Wouldn't the wattage just determine how fast it can get there?

Which soldering station - there's a million of em

Is there one that's 70 or 80 watts and doesn't use the old style tip? IIRC they're a lot better if the sensor is in the tip. Or was it the heating element being built into the tip? Can't remember, but I've seen a lot of them selling the dinosaur version for modern money. Any recommendation on...

    60 Minutes & A Laser!

I was referring to the "size" of the power level. I thought everyone would know that already since most people here would have seen burning pen lasers on youtube by now

Oh some of them are far from cute. Some of the big ones would carve up 3/8 steel plate like butter

Yeah a lot of times when you need to climb a fence, there isn't time to find something heavy to throw through it :bounce:

Is this a decent water filter for the sink?

Is there an easy to install, easy to maintenance filter setup that won't break the bank? I was thinking about this one, but it's list of stuff it filters ain't that long: https://www.amazon.com/Waterdrop-Capacity-Filtration-Fluoride-Chlorine/dp/B083NPW1DN?tag=atomicindus08-20 Maybe there's a...

Disadvantage of surface wiring in a pole barn other than cosmetics and cost.

I found that if I make it pretty, I want to spend more time out there doing stuff. Since its a nicer environment.

    Where's Garagejournal Going?

I think this thread runs counter to that. Lots of replies in this thread to simply to talk about a forum, which isn't even the meat and potatoes of the forum, which is garage related stuff. The advantages that forums have over facebook and reddit are numerous, not the least of which is that you...
