Is there a fuse on that board?

WiFi thermostat with fan control and remote/secondary sensors?

My Nest thermostats allow for a fan schedule, and the higher end Nest models do have remote sensor capability. No experience, but I understand EcoBees are similar with much better usage of the remote sensors (Nest only allows for remote sensor all the time or in specific blocks of time like...

On cool mornings, which unit is cheaper to run?

From 12 on up, use the heat pump to maintain a temp and the gas heater to bring up the temp. Below 12 default to gas. At least that would be my thoughts, comfort wise.

    Domestic hot water tank

If space is a concern, pull out the 55 gallon tank. Then hang a wall mount electric boiler for the floor heat, and do a small tank for sink/shower. Or use the 55 gallon tank for sink/shower and put in a heat exchanger for the floor. I didn't see where the size of the building and the type of...

Heating my detached, uninsulated garage - Cheapest way?

Depending on your supply of wood, I'd be more inclined to throw the wood in an outdoor fire ring. Then throw the money you were going to spend on a wood stove and put some basic insulation in the space.

Old school wood burner vs. wood furnace with blower ..which works better?

I think I would be nervous ducting air from a heater inside the garage in and out of the house. Of course I do realize that in some parts of the country it is fairly common to have HVAC and water heaters in the garage.

What were the systems before? Did you downsize on the gas side any?

Few questions about mini split removal and new install

Since you already have the concrete pad, any thoughts on just using an elevated stand?

    Timer for exterior fountain

No experience with this particular model, but other Kasa plugs I have used have been great: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B099KLNM24/?tag=atomicindus08-20

Reconnecting Solar after Main Panel Upgrade

I assume there is some sort of outside disconnect? My setup is slightly similar, only my solar is tapped (via Polaris connectors) ahead of the main on the outside of the house, all done in a separate outdoor enclosure. What I don't know if your setup is done that way by code or utility...

    Electrical Panel Recommendations

The panel manufacturers are slowly adding plug-on neutral connections for the AFCI/GFCI/combo breakers, so it might be a good idea to check one of them out.

Reconnecting Solar after Main Panel Upgrade

Lugs? Is the solar tapped into the incoming wires before the main breaker? Depending on setup and size, sometimes the solar is brought into a breaker (or set of breakers) at the end opposite the main.

    Managing heat pump condensate

Do you think you'll get much water when the heat pump runs its defrost cycle? I get it that in summer when it is high temps and high humidity that water pretty much runs out of the system, but in winter I haven't noticed an excessive amount from the defrost cycles.

    Managing heat pump condensate

Why would changing from air conditioning only to a heat pump increase the condensate?

Do I need baffling and/or add venting to the rafters?

Another option, that is sure to cause controversy, would be to do a "hot roof" where the underside of the roof is insulated.

    Battery backup for boiler

Does your boiler (and pumps) plug into a regular receptacle? If so, I think a decent sized UPS should at least buy you some time.

    solar

Do you "need" to irrigate if there is no grid power? I would think you could cut down on battery size if you could skip irrigation when there isn't a connection the grid. Another thought - do you need pressurized water to irrigate? If you don't could you just fill a large tank during daylight...

Heating/Cooling for New 36X24 Garage with Loft

A single outdoor unit (condenser) makes sense if you are limited on space or after a certain look. If you have the sapce, usually the single head units are better efficiency. There's also a nice bonus of having a bit of redundancy, if one of the units needs to go down for service or maintenance.

120VAC Heat Pump Water Heater - better dehumidifier?

While strolling through one of those scratch and dent/warehouse bargain stores the other day I took a walk down the aisle of water heaters. Gas, electric, natural draft, power vent, etc. What really caught my eye was the yellow Energy Guide stickers. To replace my existing 40 gallon natural gas...
