    110 compressor recommendation?

Well for the 110v shop compressor, I have an older Johnson Controls Craigslist deal. It was used to operate ventilation doors in a building. It's heavy duty cast Iron pump, heavy gauge tank, and century motor make it a deal at $100. If I was going to buy new, I would like to have a rol-air dual...

    Concrete Slab

To FMC 1959, I am in the Excavating Business in SW Michigan. What the standard is here is pour 4" concrete on fill sand with rolled wire, or just fiberglass mesh . I don't like this, it is the cheap shortcut way out. If you want it right try this. Here is my way: scrape out enuff hay, leaves...

    New masterforce tools at Menards.

I posted about this before. I was disappointed too. It seems to be the sign of the times. I almost think Apex is a monopoly. They bought up key American brands, then sourced them out to Asia. Not a good feeling to have. My favorite was J.H. Williams tools. Now ... Made in China. The Asian...

    Poly under gravel, before carport?

Use crushed Asphalt. Pack it down with hand tamp, add some type of sealer to the top, or a bio friendly oil to melt the asphalt back together. Works great, it's what I use. If my picture upload worked here is a driveway I top coated in crushed asphalt, before compacting.

Menards discontinues USA made hand tools

Well well well, Menards jumps on the bandwagon too. I was checking out the new tool display, and it dawned on me that there new tool line is Chinese. Then I found the clearance rack full of phased out us made wrenches. Nothing but disappointed. Looks like the new lineup is gear wrench, but I...

    Torque wrenches losing calibration

Just out of curiosity, I have never had any of my torque wrenches calibrated. Never felt the need to. I have a Craftsman clicker, SK beam type, and Snap on Torque meters. If not abused, and zeroed out, how necessary is re calibraton? What type of wrench retains the most accuracy? How far off do...

    Pressure Washer Pump for Honda

The vertical shaft power washers use a 7/8 shaft. This is the same standard size as any Briggs and Stratton powered push mower. Buy a cheap replacement off of Amazon reading reviews to decide. There are few differences in the triplex styles. These are more of a throw away pump, inherently by the...

    Air Compressor Repair

My experience repairing an air tank... Years ago my grandpa gave me a small 20 gallon Dayton air compressor that ran good but had the infamous pin hole.:lol_hitti I needed this to work. So, instead of welding up the hole, I cut a patch to cover the thin area. I did a nice job on it and it had...

What do you find and where?

Being located halfway between Chicago and Detroit, I see many brands made close by, such as PowrKraft, Craftsman, SK, Cornwell, Williams, and Armstrong. Rarely see Proto, never ever see Plomb. The one that we see often here is Indestro. They were a Chicago based tool maker that made other names...
