Thanks for the additional info -- that is frightening. I have the same model jack stands and have been leery of how porous the cast part looks (the part that broke on yours). I'm glad no one was hurt.

More info, please. What exactly were the circumstances under which this failed? Was it being used on level ground or a hill?

I didn't bother bolting them together until I added intermediate chests. You can drill any necessary holes from outside the boxes (don't need a right-angle drill), but you will need to remove top/bottom drawers as appropriate to gain access for installing and tightening the bolts/nuts.

I miss the Irwin U.S.of A. wood-handled heavy-duty screwdrivers. At least I don't think they make them any more.
