I believe you're correct. The swivel rear jaw vises had the plunger, then the lever. The bull dogs I think always had a regular lockdown and then the split ring/wrench design.

You did well, thats more than fair and thats in real nice shape. Date is stamped on the top of the slide just rear of the body with the jaws fully closed. May need a slight wire brushing to see it. Ill put my flame suit on, Rock Island > Wilton any day, you got a real keeper there.

Prentiss 22, I wouldn't pay more than $100 absolute tops for that vise. I got mine for less than $1/lb and its in pretty nice shape. I've seen others (they were quite a drive though) for around the same $150 range. I also had a swivel pin battle, i've posted about it before. Here it is...

Not really, I've had and sold a few too. I just happen to find most Prentiss in very good shape. If I didn't have my Morgan 150, one of my 526s Prentiss would be my main user. My real soft spot is Rock island.

Those are nice Morgan's! My 138 is naked wrapped in plastic for the winter, paint in spring. My main user combo, a 150 and 138.

Ive seen that for a while. IF I was in need of a large quality vise, I would make the trip around the lake, i've done it once before. That one looks nice and he will probably deal since its been on there for a while.

I'm not killing it like Smitty apparently is, but picked up 3 this week. Rock island made cman 5163. Rock island 594 for $20. Jaw shelf needs repair but shouldn't be a big deal. And a Starrett 925 missing one jaw. Will be placing a jaw order for a few vises before the Dr retires.
