Tekton 20% off one order thru 12/31/18

Bumping this up - I found 2 Tekton 20%+FS coupons from Overland Expo. First 2 people to PM me get them. They expire Jan 31 so don't waste them, if you aren't going to move fast let someone else have them.

For decent plywood try Peach State Lumber near Kennesaw. Good selection and decent prices.

    The Everything 3D Printer Thread

I like it. May see if I can make the panels and start ordering the other parts. I would only need to add 1 stepper for now, and if it worked well I could upgrade to their recommended electronics over time, since its half the cost. Looks like there is also some savings by shopping some of the parts.

Probably around 200x200 would do most of what I need for now. Z would be nice to get 200 but less or more would work. Sent from my F5321 using Tapatalk

    The Everything 3D Printer Thread

Are there any good electronic-less frame kits out there? I have an older printrbot simple (v1) that has been modified and changed over the years. At this point the print area is up to 225x125x200, but its reaching the point of losing rigidity and accuracy from a pile on of changes and making...

    Welding Blanket Info

I have a few. Most are the large, cheap HF ones. I also bought a smaller one - about 16x16, the brand is velvet shield, which always creates interesting discussions in the shop. its a lot thicker and heavier duty than the HF ones. The HF ones get used for general coverage and the smaller better...

You've been taking about that heater as long as I've been following your threads. I feel like all of us that have stolen ideas from you chipped in 5 bones we could pay someone to mount it. Then you couldn't use excuses like being too cold to work. Have you ever tried pegboard or similar doors...

Bulk Drill bits like Skil 45102?

It's a little more work but you can find packs of usually 10 good quality bits on ebay cheap. Most seem to be from machine shops clearing inventory or going out of business Sure sounds might have to find 20 different lots but you can get top quality stuff cheap. Even better if you can find a...

    Tiny Machine Shop Build (13x12.5)

My mill is actually a PM-727 http://www.precisionmatthews.com/shop/pm-727m/ That model is just a random mill I grabbed off the 3d warehouse and scaled to size.

    Tiny Machine Shop Build (13x12.5)

Another weekend workday, lots of progress Wall outlets are in. These won't really get used, but if this ever stops being a shop or we move I don't want a useless room Drywall main panels is are up. Still need to trim in the tops and edge of the ceiling. Lights are in! This is a huge one. I...

    Tiny Machine Shop Build (13x12.5)

It is a walk out. We bought it new and customized a few things. My big one was a double door in the basement. All the equipment is on dollys from the move out. I should be able to back the tilt bed up to the door and roll it right in. The Welder and lathe each weight about 800-1000lbs, the...

    Tiny Machine Shop Build (13x12.5)

Last year we moved to a larger house with a great neighborhood for the kiddo, but it has a much smaller shop and basement. Originally I was going to build a 2 car detached garage, but when I got a quote for driveway and foundation concrete of $10k, I realized it was going to be out of the...

    Basement Subpanel Quick Questions

Box as in cardboard storage container holding random bit of electrical related junk On thinking about it, I'm going to run the lights off the main panel. That way when I move out and steal the panel and such the next owner won't be left with a useless room.

    Basement Subpanel Quick Questions

I meant 240v on the compressor, its already wired that way already. Good to know on the Eaton panels. I will check that link to see what other panels I can use without reinventing the wheel. Checked my box and have about every brand of breaker, but only 1-2. Not enough to sway it one way or...

    Basement Subpanel Quick Questions

Since my plans for an outside shop met the reality of budget vs time in this house I am building out a small shop in my basement for the machine shop. Plan is to run a sub panel to the room, surface mounted with conduit running around the room to the various equipment. Done this before and it...

Teensy Multimeter to Carry on Motorcycle?

Another vote for this one, but mine is branded Meterman DM73B. It's my Jeep toolbox meter. Plenty accurate, the pen style is easy for getting a read on that buried connector while laying in the dirt. It has a hold button for when you can't see the display. Only beef is it uses LR44 batteries...

Tips on tooling to aid in using a press? Bearings, races..

I have a box of different sized races, stubs of round bar, etc I've collected over the years for the press. Most came from stuff I rebuilt. I did buy one of the seal/bearing driver sets and use it both by hand and in the press Last times I've rebuilt tcases the most helpful tool was a heavy...

    24x34 Planning/Build

Yeah, I would like to go a little deeper, need to see how the lay of the land and price changes. Got one quote so far for $65k, which IMHO was the guy saying he didnt want to do it. In reality the truck is in there for storage, but will be pulled out whenever real automotive work is being...

    24x34 Planning/Build

We are selling our current house and moving to a neighborhood. Currently I have a 24x24 dirt floor barn, a ~1500 sqft basement and a regular 2 car garage. It was a headache as my shop was spread out everywhere. Machining and woodworking were in the basement, the tractor and racecar were...
