Shopping for basic white wall cabinets

Thanks for all the ideas and input. I just got back from Habitat ReStore and picked up 6 brand new in-the-box wood cabinets, pre-finished in creamy white, with raised panel doors. Plywood, not particle board. Hinges pre-attached, I only had to install the included soft-close mechanism. When I...

Blown in insulation - Quantity ?

744sq ft / 11.2 sq ft per bag = 66 bags its insulation, not rocket surgery. don't overthink it. You measure to the nearest foot and round up and don't worry about the slope. any extra can be mounded in the middle

Shopping for basic white wall cabinets

Yep, I'm on it...just started looking on C/L but have watched for a few days now. I found two 40" tall by 33" wide...almost afraid to buy them because I may not be able to find two more to match. Cheap at $80 for the pair though

Shopping for basic white wall cabinets

I remodeled an entire condo kitchen with IKEA cabinets and was impressed with the engineering and quality. They helped us sell the unit in 48 hours after listed for sale.

Shopping for basic white wall cabinets

My budget was not based on what was available in the stores, or on the materials cost. I made the budget for what I was willing to pay and now I'm hunting to see if I can find something in that budget. The Habitat idea is good...I actually wouldn't mind painting them. I'm also looking for...

Shopping for basic white wall cabinets

I have 62" above my workbench. With 20" off the worktop that gives me 42" to ceiling. I am trying to maximize storage space because I compromised on getting a 2 car instead of a 3 car garage. I don't want a lot of exposed clutter, I want to put things away. My current garage has been an awful...

Shopping for basic white wall cabinets

Upper cabinets will go over the tool boxes only. The area to the left has a water softener behind the cardboard and I will build a space frame for it and put door on it. Above that I intend to install an upright compressor and box it in with soundproofing and ventilation. Already added the...

Shopping for basic white wall cabinets

I want to install four 36" wide by 42" tall storage cabinets above my workbench. Looking for 4 of them. I try to limit my budget on garage remodeling so I am looking for a basic cabinet with doors, either ready-to-assemble or pre-assembled. Based on the few prices I looked up on the ol'...

1st own house - crawl space woes

excellent start if there are no vents, put some in. Air flow will help reduce the moisture and stabilize the temperature. Cover the dirt floor with heavy plastic, seal the seams and edges with tape. Run the plastic up the side wall to secure it. 33" span between joists is HUGE. Most floors...

    Getting Window Estimates

Probably American Craftsman 70 Series, or Simonton VantagePointe 6100 series. They sell JeldWen in the store but it is not a regular part of their installed services. If Home Depot Exteriors was the contractor, all warranty is done through Home Depot, not the installer.

    Buckled Roof Shingles

This is pretty much the whole answer. If it was too much heat in the attic they would be buckling in the field, not near the cooler edge.

    Buckled Roof Shingles

Modern shingles are asphalt encapsulated around a fiberglass core. Crappy shingles are asphalt with an organic (fiberboard) core. Lots of lawsuits over those. Chances are you have an asphalt/fiberglass shingle on your entire roof.

    Attic venting in Florida?

My ranch style home has continuous vented soffit on front and back, and ful length ridge vent on top. On a 95 degree day the attic is about 110. On the same day, other attics I have been in are around 130-140. If ridge vent leaks it is the wrong brand of ridge vent. GAF Cobra Ridge Vent is...

    Getting Window Estimates

Sliders go from side to side, hung windows go up and down Single hung means only the bottom sash moves, the top is fixed in place and does not open. The 100 series do not tilt in to wash but supposedly are 'self cleaning' glass so you don't have have to tilt them in to clean

    Getting Window Estimates

Home Depot is not the General Contractor for the garage door installation, they run the project through a local vendor. I read some of the thread(s) about his doors and there was a fair amount of disagreement over what his problem was, how to solve it, or if he even had a problem, and what...

    Getting Window Estimates

Sounds like he gave you a thorough consultation and not just a sales pitch. You should be able to put it on your Home Depot card and get 0% interest if paid in 24 months. That could save you a lot of interest not being paid on another card, depends on your situation. $6500 for 5 windows sounds...

    Getting Window Estimates

Home Depot is the General Contractor and runs the whole job, including the permit. They also cover the license, liability insurance, workman's comp insurance, and most importantly the warranty. They are Certified for EPA Lead-Safe Work Practices. The installers are under contract to Home Depot...
